Our experience with Public Storage on Poplar Level Rd in Louisville was horrendous. When we moved our things into our unit in Sept, everything was fine. Manager was nice, helpful, and friendly. So friendly in fact that I bought her lunch in between one of my trips to our unit. But when we tried to move our stuff out this past Saturday, it took a turn for the worst. My account was payed up early but my gate code had been changed. My lock had been removed and a new lock was on my unit. I went to speak with the manager about it but found no manager. But their was a man their who said he was the manager's boyfriend and she would not be in today. He told me he was not an employee. When I called the toll free number, the customer service operator told me they were not aware of the property not having an employee there during hours of operation and if someone was acting as an employee then I should call the police. The police arrived, then out of no where, the manager pops out of the on site apartment, (which was a different manager from when we first moved our things in) and tells the police I need to leave the property. Just before I left the property, the district manager FINALLY called the manager after several attempts to contact him and after 2 1/2 hours, my unit was finally opened for me so I could retrieve my property but not without the manager giving me grief about contacting the police. So much grief in fact that her boyfriend grabbed her to separate her from me as I stood there not saying a word in rebuttal. I paid $173 a month for 4 months for my unit and even emptied and vacated with 15 days left paid. I still haven't gotten a call from the district manager personally to answer my questions or offer an apology. But not only this, but right inside my unit, where my lock lay that they cut off also lay half of my silverware spilled on the floor with drug residue and burn spots on two of the spoons that were dumped out. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If this is how a business is supposed to operate, then I want no part of the business. This is...
Read moreThe gate that protects the facility has been broken since March. Until recently that just meant no gate at all and 24x7 access, but they have since started chainng it shut at closing time for the office. That's six pm AT THE LATEST, they aren't too committed to the job at this place. Update: they did finally fix the gate. They also have started almost always being gone at closing time. I was there at five yesterday and six today, closed up tight. That means I can't pay my bill. Pay online, you say? Sure, IF anyone that worked for this place knew how to set a password for the account that would be a great idea. They don't. One thing that is working flawlessly at public storage is their constant email spam, however. Around the fifteenth of the month they start sending me reminders about my upcoming bill. That's due on the first. PROTIP: the human sized gate to the right of the office is also broken. You can't get your car in there at night, but you can walk right in with a dolly and do what...
Read morePurchased some appliances that I needed to temporarily store for less than 1 month until we moved. I chose this location initially because of the positive Google reviews and the competitive quote I received from their website. The lady in the office who helped me rent my unit was my only positive experience. She was extremely helpful and informative. However, my positive experience ended with her. The quoted price from their website does not include the $19.99 lock fee plus they $15 monthly insurance premium they require for each unit. After emptying my unit, I then made 4-5 different attempts to cancel my rental agreement at the office. However, no one was ever in the office during their stated business hours. I also left several voicemails and never received a return phone call from the property manager. My rental agreement was eventually cancelled after the online customer service agent I reached out to sent the property manager a notification. I will not use Public Storage...
