Saint Joseph's has many flaws. My child made the decision not to attend. The open house was not successful.
. MAJORS: Business And Food Marketing Are The Only Majors The School Is Known For. The School Supports Those Majors, But Other Majors Are Left Underfunded With Temporary Professors (Adjuncts), Low Student Achievement, And Low Enrollment.
PRICE & QUALITY: Many people are “not aware of the academic quality and successful careers associated with a Saint Joseph’s education”, according to Joseph M. Lunardi ’82 (B.A.), associate vice president for marketing and communications. This explains why the school has an 85% acceptance rate. However, this does not explain why the school is overpriced, charging $43,000 Per Year in tuition and $15,000 per year in room & board. All that money for a school MOST PEOPLE have doubts about.
DIVERSITY: If You Are A Person Of Color, a person with a disability, LGBT, Or Muslim (Or Any Religious Group Outside Catholicism) You Will Not Be Treated Fairly. There Has Been Many Incidents Where Staff And Students Discriminated Against Those With Different Beliefs And Skin Colors. Students are quick to tell you about staff including Their personal Political Views Into Their Teaching.
BRANDING CAMPAIGN & MISSION: The School Does Not Follow Their Catholic Mission. They Have A Hard Time expressing Jesuit And Catholic Beliefs. They use Latin words like “MAGIS”, to define everything they do. However, Catholic schools are about helping the less fortunate. Saint Joe’s should focus on what they could do for the student, and NOT what the students could do for the university and surrounding community. Students are choosing the university to lead them to a career, and the university is saying “DO MORE, WORK HARDER, LIVE GREATER “, as if students are not already great and working hard. They are insulting their students and everyone involved with this university. I thought catholic missions are supposed to uplift people??
Remember the “NOT FOR SPECTATORS” branding campaign a couple of year ago. This is similar to the MAGIS campaign. Saint Joe’s really has a record of discriminating and not valuing diversity. They SHOULD be a school for everyone, not only for the people that support their lack of diversity beliefs. Why would a catholic school discriminate against students? I don’t know, but It’s in Saint Joe’s branding, mission, and actions. THIS UNIVERSITY DOES NOT RESPECT THE DIFFERENCES AMONG ITS STUDENTS.
Their mascot flaps its wings the entire basketball. Even when the team is losing. The flapping is really distracting. Explain this: If their mascot is a hawk, why does it look...

Read moreThis school is the bomb dot com. One of the admissions officers, James, gave us a review of what they look for upcoming students, overview of the school, as well as costs. Yes, he answered any questions that we had.
Hailey was out your guide for the campus tour and she was from VA just like us. She and my daughter connected during the tour and my daughter was able to ask her various questions during the tour as well as the other students.
Be prepared to do a lot of walking on the campus tour, so dress comfortably and wear some comfortable shoes.
We happened to tour on a day that the heat index was 121 degrees, but the campus kept us hydrated with cold, bottled water.
Honestly, I thought I knew quite a bit about the school. Yet, I learned so much more.
Don't count them out because they have a lot to offer for everyone. It's not too small and not too big. A great medium sized campus in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
Don't forget to check out Hawk Hill. Most of all, remember that the Hawk...
