I moved into The Point at City Line in August 2017 for my junior year of college at Saint Joseph's University. Little did I know that the next 2 years that I would spent living at the high rise would be extremely eventful. Let me begin by saying that the apartment building itself is quite nice, the balcony provides a great view of either the city or city avenue, depending on which side you are. Albeit this is only possible if you live above a certain floor. The location of The Point is advantageous since it is right next to Overbrook Station and is just a 10 minute walk to Saint Joseph's University campus. That being said, my roommates and I encountered many inconveniences while staying here, which mainly came down to incompetent management. There were an incessant amount of fire alarms that would go off in the middle of the night and we would have to climb down from the 11th floor multiple times. Once this occurred because someone burnt a piece of fish and smoke engulfed their entire floor, so I do not blame management for that one. However, there were many other occurrences where this happened and the residents were never given any explanation as to why we were awoken at 2am in the morning on a week night! One of my main concerns about The Point was the concerning lack of security. The front desk lady usually departs at 6pm and during the night the entire lobby is left unattended, allowing all sorts of people to loiter by the entrance and enter the building as soon as someone opens the door. This is a huge security risk! The swimming pool is only open for a brief period of time during the summer, and I would feel quite uncomfortable during the occasional times I went for a swim because the lifeguard would literally sit right in front of the pool. I understand that this is a security measure, but surely the lifeguard could sit a bit further away. I always felt that my personal space was being invaded! The lounge is listed as one of the "amenities" the building provides, but there are several problems. The coffee machine normally does not work since it is serviced very infrequently. The internet is also faulty and the printers do not work well. One of the bright spots of The Point was the two superb maintenance men. They were always very friendly and welcoming. Whenever we had an issue at our apartment they would swiftly resolve the problem. There was one time while I was living on the 11th floor, my roommate received a phone call from his mother about complaints that management had against him. I was surprised to hear about this, as we would have preferred that management contact us directly to air any grievances as opposed to speak to our parents first. Possibly my biggest problem with management was when I moved from the 11th floor to the 17th. I had to fill out paperwork for the move, and provided management all the documentation that was required. To my disbelief, they later emailed me saying that they had lost all the paperwork that I had filled out! I was stunned to learn this because there was sensitive information in the paperwork, including my social security number! Thankfully I did not become a victim of identity theft or anything worse! I will praise management for one thing: they organized great parties! The summer BBQ was a great success and so was the Christmas dinner! However, the worst was yet to come. We moved out of The Point in 2019, and for some reason we were billed $200 on our closing account. When my roommate's mother asked why this payment was included, management replied by saying that our apartment needed "excessive cleaning". This was simply not true, as we were all very neat and tidy, and even cleaned the apartment before vacating it. We asked for pictures of the areas in the apartment that needed cleaning so we could see what damage was done. To my amazement, the Point sent us pictures of the WRONG apartment! They had overcharged us for cleaning someone else's apartment! We were almost hoodwinked, bamboozled, and cuckolded! Overall, the Point is a nice building but needs...
Read moreTerrible, terrible, terrible place. I have submitted my application spoke to Sarah about apartment which was available and I was told that I will get my leasing paperwork within half an hour. The leasing paperwork did not come in the same day and afterwards nightmare began. I have been calling Premier office every day for couple of times to speak to Sarah or someone who can help me because I still haven’t received my lease. Every time they told me they will pass the message to her. After two weeks I spoke to someone who couldn’t give me any answers and after about five calls in one day they told me they’re extremely sorry that I was waiting. At that point they also told me that the apartment I applied for was no longer available because they gave it away and that there is no more apartments for me except for more expensive ones. I chose to go ahead with the more expensive apartment at that time the management said that they will not give me this apartment because I am moving half month later than they expected and that will be a loss to them.
So I was left with no apartment after a month since my initial viewing of the apartment, after 2 weeks of waiting for my lease. That being said this was a month and half before my tentative move-in date.
Do not apply to this place. They will take your money for application and then tell you there’s no apartments for you. And now I’m stuck with trying to scramble apartment last minute because they have incompetent people in the office and once you have one person that works on your application the others have no clue what is going on with your application. So because Sarah was not there for 2 weeks I was just taking to someone who took my message but never helped me.
It unacceptable to be waiting for lease for 2 weeks after being promised it will be emailed in half an hour. ALSO its unacceptable that once you picked apartment it is given away to...
Read moreI currently live here the 5 start reviews are definitely fake they encourage people to leave glowing reviews for an incentive. I also over heard them talking about how the more they lease the bigger the bonus -here’s a breakdown of the cast list
Kasmira- the most personable of the trio Sara- according to Kyah she’s a compulsive liar Kyah -she’s the building manager
If you talk to anyone , talk to Kyah because she’s a micro manager and every time I pop my head it to ask a question to other team members she always feels the need to insert herself
Inconsistent office hours Deteriorating gym equipment -not 24 hours Someone from outside who didn’t live here was able to come in and murder someone on the 16th floor- building isn’t really secure Luxury prices for basic apartment The maintenance team barely speaks English so it’s hard communicating issues Continued leak in apartments Slow work order request response time No luxury appliances Growing mold in ceilings No screens in balconies -un safe Anyone can come in the building pull ur name and see what apartment you’re in -not secure If you have issues they won’t put you in contact with corporate so you’ll get frustrated trying to resolve issues because Kyah has the emotional capacity of a sociopath
Update: the above problems still stand and for the same price you can look at 335bala (newer building and updated) , the cynwyd (the sister property to 335) or the Luxor these are options if you’ré wanting luxury living . What everyone is saying is true, there are popcorn ceilings, holes in the ceilings, ugly elevators, no front desk concierge and limited access to the amenities. The outdoor area is only open from Memorial Day to labor today so you can’t even use the fire pit unless it’s between those times the gym also isn’t 24 hours it closes at 9pm there are better buildings...
