Middle River Park — Attraction in Machias

Excellent peaceful retreat to nature in the busy little town of Machias. This preserve offers everything from picnic tables over looking the river to woodland walks abundant in nature and wildlife. Numerous deer and a variety of bird species can be seen here. The preserve offers secluded trails and picnic areas or can be used to simply relax. A gentle paddle up the river from the provided small dock affords views of historic marsh and berms from times past. This property is rich in historic importance to the area, as a site of the scuttling of the first ship involved in the battle against the English, the Margaretta. Needs a porta potty! Ecspecially if you have little ones and there isn't time to run around the town trying to find a bathroom. There is a trail there, etc, they should be equipped with one just like any other park has. Including a river where you can put kayaks and such in. Who wants to leave their stuff there that is all ready to go in the water, to look for a bathroom? Not our family! And I am sure lots of other tourists thought the same thing!
