Honestly perplexed by the conversation I just had with the female clerk at Pleasant Smoke Shop in Malden Square in Malden, MA, whom I met yesterday, was very kind, resourceful, attentive, and believe to be the owner. However, after today's conversations I am convinced I was speaking with DONALD STERLING, the recently OUSTED RACIST OWNER of the NBA LA CLIPPERS!!!!!!!
Having made a $70 purchase yesterday, May 29th, 2014 at this smoke shop and unsatisfied with the product ( a hand cranked cigarette making machine), I called to inquire about the store's return policy. The woman who attended me yesterday, answered the phone and stated that I had to mail in the warranty and deal with the manufacturer of the product for any issues with the machine.
I kindly informed her that it was not a defective issue with the product but a satisfaction issue, I wanted to purchase the electronic version. So again, I asked about her store's general return policy, and she simply replied very rudely "NO!" and hung up on me!
Mind you, I spent 70 dollars there yesterday and up until today planned to be a regular customer because of how helpful, and nice she was to me. I called back after she hung up on me, and kindly told her that I was a customer of the store and that it was very disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude to hang up on any client out of frustration and that there was no need to hang up on ANY CUSTOMER.
She responded by saying, and I quote, with witnesses, "Its my F@#%ing store and I will respond however the F@#k I want! Clearly, English isn't your first F@#%ing language since you don't understand what I am telling you......" at which I point I felt humiliated, insulted, and degraded and could no longer tolerate her RACIST remarks towards me. I was in there just yesterday, she attended me for quite some time and it is obvious from my appearance that I am of Hispanic descent.
To put the final nail in the the coffin is ironically her self admitting by profiling me by stating that because I did not look like her I could not understand nor speak her language. What's even more ironic is that I was born in Rochester, NH, USA and grew up fluently bilingual in Malden, MA, attended middle and high school across the street from the same smoke shop from 1991 to 1997, and then attended Boston University. Doesn't get much more AMERICAN than that!!!
She instructed me to swiftly return to my country of origin as soon as possible so I informed her I could it make it to her house for dinner by 8pm.
Please pass the apple pie!
Regards, Carlos...
Read moreI just called this Pleasant Smoke Shop shop about a complexity with my order and the woman at the front desk truly lived up to the name of the establishment. She was wonderfully pleasant, helpful and professional.
I feel bad for any folks that may have had bad experiences but I understand that life is complex and there a lot of variables that enter into the equation then different personalities interact. We only tend to comment on the negative experiences we may have on any given day.
After reading a few other reviews here, I had some trepidation but I just wanted to let folks know that I have an extremely pleasant and productive experience.
This is a great smoke shop so I'd recommend giving them a try. If my few experiences are any indicator, as the name indicates, I think you will be...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic online shop. Ordered 2 nice boxes of cigars around Christmas as gifts, spent about $350 total. Pleasant was the cheapest by far and the shopping experience was great. Package shipped via UPS the same day I ordered and arrived one or two days later. Was pleasantly surprised to find that they also threw a bunch of freebie cigars into the box. My father absolutely loved all ones they threw in, nothing crappy in the lot, and every cigar burned fairly well, meaning they were stored at the proper humidity and temperature. Will definitely order from this place again, and I'm looking forward to going into the shop next time I make it to Mass. Thanks to the staff for making me look like a good son...
