This library has been home to me ever since I was in elementary school and I wouldn't change it for the world. I've been to several others (Boston Public Library, Cambridge Public Library, Medford Public Library) but there's just something about Malden's--they just got renovations too so the bathrooms are spotless! The whole place is cozy; the teen section is a tad bit loud but homely and there are extremely quiet sections if that's what you're looking for. The librarians are awesome and they've been there for a while so you see similar faces greeting you every time you walk in. The book selection is great and if you can't find it there, they'll order it for you. The activities and events that go on benefit almost every group in the community (kids, toddlers, teens, writers, ESL learners, seniors, historians, etc.). Can't recommend this...
Read moreExcellent library with great natural lighting in the center study area. Part of the larger Boston Public Library network, which enables large access to a huge collection of books. This library itself is fairly well stocked, and I would describe it as a "medium sized" library.
Really friendly staff, and the visitors to the library are generally quiet and respecting of the library environment. A local high school is nearby, and consequently the library can get a bit busy and active with kids wandering about immediately after school ends.
Free WiFi, lots of study space, private rooms, and a good collection for it's size. I'm a big fan of the Malden branch, and come here often. If you're from the area, be sure to enjoy this great...
Read moreThe actual library available to the public is less than half of the building. The cover photo is part of the building which is not available most of the time. When asked, I was told there wasn't enough staff to keep the whole building open. Malden is a large city with many people that deserves a better place to study than this. A place that values learning and exploration of the world rather than a massive cordoned off historical area where the mayor can talk once every few weeks or special guests can visit. People sitting on the floor due to lack of space. Facilities probably have not been updated in over 40 years. Collection is limited and aged. No off...
