Lake George — Attraction in Mammoth Lakes

Perfect afternoon! Lake George is part of the Mammoth lake trails. You can spend an entire day on moderate strenuous trails. I spent the day fishing under a tree line shore. Did not catch anything.

Scenic views and fresh mountain air. My kids spent the afternoon exploring the shoreline and hoping to avoid bears. We had a nice picnic at the bench table. I will definitely be back here next summer.

Always try to get to this lake early in the morning to get parking! If lot is full, you can park about 1/4 mile away along the shore of Lake Mary. There are a few easier trailheads here (TJ Lake 1.5 miles, Barrett Lake 1 mile, and Crystal Lake 3 miles). Great spot for a picnic, fishing or bring your kayak or SUP board. Stunning place! Hiked on Thanksgiving day 2021. Road up closed for winter but easy hike from Tamarack Resort (6 miles round trip.) Lake George is so beautiful, a real gem among the many Mammoth lakes. Trail around the lake is icy on the far side and micro spikes would have been helpful. An amazing hike and very quiet this time of year. I saw maybe a dozen people the entire hike. Great views of Twin lakes and Lake Mary...
