LOLA’S — Attraction in Manalapan Township

My friend and I were very excited to go to Lola’s to look for prom dresses. We made an appointment 2 weeks in advance. When we arrived absolutely no one in the store other than us were wearing masks. A very rude larger women with long dark hair said in a nasty tone “Can I help you?”, like we were inconveniencing her by being there. We told her we had an appointment, and then she said “Where is your parent?”. There was nothing on the website about needing to bring a parent, and it was not mentioned on the phone when we made the appointment either, not to mention both my friend and I are 18 and drove there ourselves. Along with this we had the means to pay for our dresses regardless of not having our mothers with us. The rude women then yelled over to the owner and told her we didn’t have parents. She then said that she guessed we could “look around”. We were then briefly explained the layout of the store and then walked around by ourselves for about 20 minutes. Everyone else there was being helped by an associate, and there were a bunch of workers who were free and not helping us. They were just standing in a clump in the middle of the store complaining to each other. The dress selection was very small, and not impressive. After we awkwardly looked around, we walked out of the store and no one said anything to us on the way out. I’m glad I did not purchase a dress here because I do not want to support this business. Melanie & her girls are AMAZING to work with. I have a bridal party of 12 gorgeous girls. I wanted to have them wear prom dresses rather than your typical Bridesmaid dress. I showed Mel a few photos, and she made me feel SO confident in finding exactly what I was envisioning for my big day! She is personal, enlightening, professional and extremely knowledgeable in the whole aspect of this process of wedding planning. I was in and out, dress picked out with all of the changes, bells & whistles in an hour. She has updated me through every sizing appointment, payment and even when the dresses were ordered and when they will arrive. I was discouraged at so many other dress places because I am a "pandemic Bride" & besides the mask & sanitizing, Melanie NEVER once discouraged me and still assured I would have everything I dreamed of for my big day! I can go on and on but it says a lot that we came back a week later to get the Mother of the Bride dress for my mom here as well. What a crew, what a business and what a feel when you walk into this place. Not to mention their top of the line options! LOLA'S IS A MUST FOR AN SPECIAL OCCASION & even just for a quick gift for a special lady with their extensive accessories, sweat suits and more!! Our good friend, whose daughters are a little older than ours, has been raving about Lola's for several years to us. When it was time for our oldest daughter's junior prom shopping, we could not WAIT to head to Lola's. Scheduling our appointment was a breeze (make sure you schedule early as their appointments book up quickly bc of their exceptional service) and when we arrived, we were welcomed in by the owner, Melanie (who is a GEM), and she connected us with the store associates who would help us. They were kind, understanding, listened to what my daughter was looking for, and brought her dresses right away. When my daughter liked several dresses, they were patient with her while she made her decision. As she eliminated dresses, there were other staff members who whisked away the "no" dresses. We came in hoping to purchase one dress, but walked out with two (she has two different occasions later this spring). We will recommend Lola's without hesitation to all of our friends who need dresses for all occasions from hoco, to prom, to 8th grade dances, to service dresses, and BEYOND!
