A group of us had a nice evening out to watch a dance group. They were very talented, however, it would have felt more professional if they had nice costumes and a choreography where we could understand the meaning of what they were doing. Great dancing but seemingly haphazard choreography. Also, when they danced without music, it didn't have enough artistic expression to make it make sense. Hearing the feet hit etc.. as they jumped & moved made it seem like practice. It makes it more of a show when each set has a story to tell with great music, costumes & choreography. One set chopped up a James brown song to make it sound a bit psychedelic, but it hit us as strange... if they were dressed in 70s outfits and created a whole performance set with that theme and added psychedelic lighting, etc... it could have made us feel something. I loved the interview bit though. It was well done and funny... very entertaining; we wanted more of that. The sea part was kinda cool too. Just my take and the feelings of our group. I wrote all of this because the dancers were talented and we felt the show did their hard work...
Read moreWe were delighted to attend the Vienna Piano Trio, a Yelp Elite event at Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts, Uconn, Storrs.
The three selections: Haydn, Ravel, and Mendelssohn were all very entertaining and well received by the audience, including us.
the Chamber Music, headed by Viennese-born, Stefan Mendl, piano, along with Clemens Hagan, violincello, and David McCarrol, violin, was in sync in every way, and demonstrated an exception level of energy through the concert.
The trio has won numerous international awards, and it is easy to see why. They bring an empathic resonance to the works they perform and allow the audience to take in the music without applause until each work is finalized.
We highly recommend this music experience when you have opportunity to hear them. Next time, we hope to hear some...
Read moreClean easy to access location right on a college campus. If you are ever at the University of Connecticut I would highly reccommend seeing a show. Every performance I've seen has been phenomenal and I've gone to 3 comedy shows, one concert and one play there. If you sit within the first 10-15 rows there is extra leg room, so I highly reccommend trying for those seats if you're tall. The place also puts on shows of high calibre in terms of talent. If you can definetly stop by for a...
