Unfortunately this was not an ideal match for us. We started off on a sour note when we arrived at 5:15 pm, they were adamant about not working after 5 pm. In fact we ran into a couple who had been coming there over 10 years and said this was their only drawback. I offered them $50 to stay open , and they said no; we had given ourselves 6 hours to drive from Miami. ||||Come to find out, our RV spot was literally 100 feet from where we parked that night in their driveway. They did leave electric hookup for our RV that night which was helpful. I firmly believe that personally driving an RV to the spot, which was the reason we couldn’t check in, was unnecessary. Time to evaluate your clientele, RVers know how to park, we all literally park 99.9% of the time on our own in other parks across the country. ||||If you have dogs, the entire place is rock driveways that will hurt your dog’s feet. They do share this ahead of time, so this was our mistake. The one exception was the grass dog area.||||No traditional Beach you can walk into water. No swimming except in pool. So if you want those aspects stay anywhere else.||||Laundry closed at 5 pm so if you need to do Laundry, plan on taking off your valuable time in The Keys to get it done during the day.||||Very, very clean. There list of Rules had more pages than both the 400 spot places in Sunshine KeyRV Resort and Boyd’s in Key West.||||We rented a kayak from a company and the Manager was so mean to the guy dropping off the kayak, saying it would be confiscated if we left it on their beach, I had to walk to the Office to see, only to hear some random story about how some teenagers left their kayaks several years ago, and the Mgr somehow had to deal with it.||||I was terrified the entire time every time my dog peed on the minor landscaping. Yes, there was a rule saying your dog had to get to the dog area to urinate. So there we are, literally running with our dogs to the front of the park, hoping they won’t pee on a bush.||||Location view is fabulous. Very clean. Ruined by Management’s overall dictatorial behavior. The whole vibe sucked the good spirits we had. If you like small and quiet with tremendous views, this is the place. Just not a good match us. If they read this Review, they would agree with everything I’ve said and probably be fine with it under the argument their rules keep the place clean for...
Read moreTwo enthusiastic thumbs up for Grassy Key RV Resort. This is absolutely the cleanest, most well-manicured park I have ever encountered and goes way beyond anything I ever could have imagined. These guys take fastidious to a new level: have you ever seen folks not only raking the gravel after someone leaves a slot, but actually CLEANING the gravel if there was an oil stain? Yup - I saw it happen here. They're picking up flower blossoms and raking the sand on the beach every day, they're wiping down every table/chair in the pool area every day - I hope you're getting the idea by now. Beautiful waterfront setting, good size slots for bigger rigs, pristine pool, some road noise in the slots closer to Overseas Highway. This is a fantastic spot to enjoy everything the Keys has to offer. To quote Walter: "you've got the best fishing in the world 30 minutes to the north in Islamorada and the best partying in the world 60 minutes to the south in Key West."
Word of advice, this place intentionally does not have a central shower or bathroom and it definitely changes the vibe as most of the clientele are rocking some pretty large rigs; no pops or tent camping at this place. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a...
Read more5 Stars because its how businesses handle problems that sets them apart. We were heading to a repeat visit to Key West and left a day early to try out a new RV Park. We arrived at Grassy Key (mm58.7) 3pm Friday June 21 for a one night stay. After completing Check-in one of the staff Jaime told us he noticed some dripping coming from our diesel. The staff quickly assisted us with some names of possible diesel mechanics. We put a large pan underneath the engine to prevent the leak from making a further mess in this very clean resort. It appeared no help would arrive until Monday to diagnose so we called Wendy who moved some other future reservations around so we could stay at this site for a few days. We called our destination place that said "Sorry, if you can't make it here, your 50% deposit for your 10 day stay is non-refundable . We found a great diesel mechanic (Victor) who showed up on SATURDAY morning and replaced a blown O-Ring in our high pressure system. We're ready to resume our trip Saturday so we thought we would give Wendy a try and she blew us away by offering us a 100% toward a future stay. We're already booked for October and will try to extend. We've found our new...
