The Owner of this business, Sharon Silva, has a problem with acknowledging the truth. Her UPS Store (#3991, located in Marathon) has NINE! one-star Google reviews, but she believes that those reviews belong to the Key Largo location. Ms. Silva declares herself to be “the nicest person ever,” however my experience with her was quite different. Ms. Silva also invented a narrative about how I must have “had a bad day” to excuse my reaction to her unprofessional behavior.
I was attempting to return a book to Barnes & Noble via The UPS Store. I had a label, but the book was not in a package. I explained the situation to the Associate at the counter, she told me that I would have to pay them for packaging, which I was not prepared to do at that time as I did not have the company credit card. The Associate called Ms. Silva over and told her: “She says she won’t pay for packaging.” Ahem, that is not what I said.
Ms. Silva told me that they ONLY return items without packaging for Amazon. When I pointed out that I had previously dropped off returns for AT&T without packaging, she then acknowledged that AT&T also has a corporate account with The UPS Store. Ms. Silva then asked me the question: “Where on this book would you like for me to put a shipping label?” I was both taken aback and incredibly offended by her patronizing tone. I responded by telling her that I did not appreciate her speaking to me like I was stupid, I took the book from the counter and turned to leave the store. As I reached the door, Ms. Silva loudly said “I wasn’t TRYING to speak to you like you’re stupid.” I turned around, went back to the counter, and said “But you DID. Can you understand how I might feel that way?” She replied “I’m trying to.” No apology whatsoever. I went home upset and shaking from anger.
Ms. Silva needs to realize that her behavior at work affects other people, even her customers. Given that she is the Owner, the only person who can hold Ms. Silva accountable for her actions is herself. I believe that Ms. Silva would benefit from serious self-reflection.
Oh, and for anyone who needs to do business with UPS – the Advanced Auto Parts in Marathon (11600 Overseas Hwy) is also a UPS Access Point – the UPS Store is not the only game in town. Ms. Silva assured me that my business would not be missed, so you can bet I’ll be taking my...
Read moreIf I could give this a zero stars I would in a heart beat! I got married on 2/28 and brought my bouquet(Sola Woods fake flowers) and other various wedding items to be shipped to my address so I would not have to bring them on my honeymoon(we are from Ohio). I have been told my UPS stores before to do the Pack and Ship because they will make sure my items would be safe as I was worried with these items being so precious to me! Never did I expect the NIGHTMARE I would be dealing with coming home from my honeymoon. First off the bad experience started in the store with the staff member Tara. She kept wrapping my veil around the bouquet after being asked not too. On top of that when I came home and unpacked my items so excited to see them again the veil had a hole punctured in it and was wrapped around the bouquet. My flowers were smooshed and a flower has been CUT OFF! She stole from my bouquet! Do NOT have Tara touch your items!! When I went to file a claim on UPS it stated I needed to contact the store. I tried a few time since coming home but the numbers available would not connect. I finally found an email and emailed the store. The “store owner” Sharon Silva was extremely rude and stating she REFUSES to help me file a claim stating she has a “he said she said” problem and she “does not think that any of my items would qualify for reimbursement”. I have been in contact with customer relations trying to sort it all out and to the point of filing a police report against Tara for stealing my property. Do not go to this store with your items that you truly care about as they have a staff member who...
Read moreI am relatively new to Marathon--as a week-end retreat--and although I have often found it to be rather rural in their behavior and appearance, it has certain hidden and pleasant surprises for businessmen. My company is headquartered in the Washington DC metropolitan area. However, I do work remotely with my managers and staff. The nature of our business calls for me to review, approve, print, bind and ship large quantities of documents to numerous customers and potential customers. Almost all of the material is time sensitive and for years I have used Office Depot for printing, binding and then shipping through Federal Express. However, this process involves submitting documents well in advance and encountering problems with binding and collating. I had experienced issues with Office Depot in Miami, South Beach, and horrible issues in Marathon and the lower keys. That was solved instantly by the UPS store in Marathon. Not only was the staff friendly and knowledgeable, but also helpful. I found equal issues with my own bank every time I tried to use a notary. Problem solved at this UPS store. They have plenty of them and more than helpful. Do yourselves a favor, forget the attitude at Office Depot in Marathon and move all your business to these folks at the UPS store. You can print your own material, bind it on the fly and if UPS was as efficient as FedEx, I would have established a corporate account with them. Unfortunately, they are not as efficient on their delivery as the other guys. But for all the other items, the UPS in Marathon is an...
