I was staying nearby in December at one of the hotels on the strip down the road, and decided to order a small pizza, it was probably midnight or so but they weren't close to closing yet. I ordered online, got a small pepperoni and extra cheese, told them the hotel in the note and stated which room and described my car which was the closest to the road (as my room was closest to the road). I worked for Papa Johns when I was younger, but as a manager at an independent chain for 4 years total, as well as having worked at Domino's and Hungry Howie's. So I try to be as descriptive as can be and as helpful as can be, because I get it.
So, watching the tracker, I saw that it said driver was on their way, so I said well let me just go outside and wait for them, help out even more. I see a van pull up with the topper on, and I hold until they parked by the front of the office (closed at this point), but held because it's late, and again as a person who worked in that profession, I would get uneasy when someone would start walking towards me late at night, especially a hotel, etc.
So I waved and said hi, and it was odd I got odd response. He gets back IN his van, and takes the pizza out while sitting down in the van and takes the receipt out for me to sign, gives me a pen and long story short I'm having to sign on the pizza, on his lap while he sat in his van - I don't remember if the dome light was on or not, either way the light was dim, so I'm totaling up the total plus the tip to sign, he mumbled something like 'that's good enough' (spoiler alert - it's not until I say it is, I'm always going to make sure I sign the right total etc., that's the point). The whole time it was like he had somewhere better to be, not sure. I do know, that if I acted like that, or didn't greet someone with at least a fake smile, or make an attempt to care, I would expected to get back to my store and at least be written up. Everyone has a bad day at work, or more, especially in food and hospitality, but, again, FAKE like your happy at least. Which, I could / would have just shrugged it off as whatever, but then started reading all of the other comments and noticed a trend regarding the food being fine / good, but the service being various levels of bad.
I also noticed that (which makes sense in a heavy vacation area) a lot of the reviewers don't have too many reviews or it looks like they may never have ordered from a Papa Johns period before (I saw a comment about how great it was the holder in the box existed for the garlic dip) - with that being said, I thought it was important I left this comment. It's RARE I give a one star, I usually reserve that for any McDonald's locations that lie and say the shake machine is broken, but after putting the pieces together from others comments, the fact that I don't see ANY response from this locations ownership to any of the negative comments, there are also negative comments on other forums like Yelp and TripAdvisor, and having worked in that industry for as long as I did, including at a Papa Johns, I had to. I already filled out the customer satisfaction email with similar remarks.
It's unfortunate too because I don't see any evidence to the contrary that this location is NOT taking advantage of the fact that it appears they are the only choice for people past a certain point after the local pizza place closes, and it looks like there was a Pizza Hut but that's no longer there not sure why. At a certain point, I think enough tourists or visitors will catch on, and not order, I can't imagine residents ordering from this location and putting up with that, so I have to assume that the store just doesn't care since the likelihood of a return customer is always guaranteed to not be 100% since it is a vacation spot.
To anyone who is visiting from out of town, and you aren't familiar with Publix (the supermarket chain), there is one down the road, and if you have never tried a 'pubsub', skip this mess and give it a try,...
Read moreIf you're thinking about cheating on your diet with a the correct toppings you order and great customer service... this isn't the place and this Papa John's is NOT the one! my pizza was delivered on time but sadly it wasn't what I order the only thing that was correct was the size of the pizza. I spoke with Bryce (store manager) on the phone after being on hold for 10 minute and decided a refund was best. The manager said "okay, it take between 7-10 days". I asked for a email for the refund, he said "ok". I tried calling back to make sure he had the correct email. I was on hold for 19 and 36 seconds. Luckily, I live right down the road and arrived at the store when Papa John's hung up on me. I asked for a manager and the driver said he could help me. I wanted to speak to who I spoke with on the phone and asked for the manager once more. The driver refused to let me speak to the manager. The driver then looked up my order and I asked for the refund receipt because the manager said he refunded my order he let me know if the manager said he did a refund, it was refunded. I had the opportunity to work at a Papa John's when I was younger and the machine prints a receipt after transactions like a refund. Their driver let me know it was NOT refunded and couldn't help me so he went and got the manager, Bryce. The Manager the refunded my order and I eventually received a refund receipt also they were able to get the wrongly made pizza back. I suggest you spend your hard earned cash ANYWHERE else on...
Read moreWish I could give half a star. Was there a few months ago and sat in the store while a bunch of teenagers messed around. One spent 20 minutes in their bathroom, then came out and was messing with his phone while another in the back did all the work. Vowed to never order from there again. At work today, decided to give them another chance, and was trying to get someone to deliver, saw a deal online but it said “delivery not available.” Called the number, yes they are doing delivery, will not honor online deals, refers me back to website. Call back and tell them that I cannot get delivery if I order online, I need delivery, says he cannot honor any deals, but they have an in-store deal for DOUBLE THE PRICE!!!! Can’t do anything to satisfy a customer. Ugh! I should’ve trusted my gut.
Most poorly, mismanaged, and definitely not a customer friendly pizza store I have seen in a very long time. Sorry, but I really will never even attempt to order from here again....
