This is a great spot and here's why - the pool is larger than most in Marco Island, the house is a home - very cozy and with plenty of space for larger groups, and the location is perfect! There are some things to note before you book though. This is a home owned by Canadians and managed by a local rental agency so when you request to book, you'll get a price in Canadian dollars. You will also have to sign a rental contract, which is in addition to the VRBO contract. Either I missed it or this was not obviously pointed out on the listing because it was a surprise to me. It's not a big deal, just something to note. The house is not stocked like others. You have to buy your own paper towels, garbage bags, laundry detergent, etc. There are starters so you can get in on the first night but if you're here for more than a couple of days, make sure to note you'll have to purchase what you need. There is a coffee maker - like a Mr. Coffee - and there were coffee filters for it, but I'm not sure if that's because some previous person bought them. Finally, there are no cleaning supplies - no vacuum and just one garage broom. The house is tiled in white, so you can see every tiny thing. I resorted to the garage broom, but in retrospect, I might have just bought a broom on arrival. There is a note that you can call a cleaning service for a fee, but I just wanted to sweep up the floors, we didn't need a whole clean up. Anyhow, just be prepared that it's different from other VRBO rentals in that it's pretty sparse on supplies. This was our second summer in Marco Island, and this house was nicer than the previous in that it was totally quiet at night. It was delightfully easy to get anywhere on foot or bike - there are great bikes in the garage to use - from this house. There are a lot of pool and beach toys in the garage to use too. The house is exactly as pictured. It's nice and cozy, but not super upscale. The kitchenware is a little worn - the knives are extremely dull and the dishwasher is not very good, but if you rinse first, it's okay. The beds were comfortable and the linens were okay. The pool is the central piece. Rent this house! You...
Read moreWe stayed here for a 60th Birthday Party Girls Week. The home was clearly still being refurbished after the hurricane with several windows marked for replacement and the molding missing from most windows. But that did not detract from the beauty and spaciousness of this home. It easily accommodated the 14 of us that stayed.. There was plenty of hot water, pool floats and seating areas on the new deck. The pool and hot tub were very clean. It does need a thorough cleaning of the carpets and would do well to replace the cushions on the deck chairs. The bath towels were pretty thin and worn and several of the bedding sets were stained. Again, small improvements only would be needed. The bedrooms were large and the house had several sitting areas that were perfect for those that needed to work. Internet was good. The kitchen is sparsely furnished, but we managed to still cook meals there. There were 3 refrigerators and two freezers, so we could easily stock water, wine and other beverages along with food. There was also an additional refrigerator in the garage, but we did not turn that one on. The landscaping in front needs some TLC, but had beautiful flowers all around the home. The management group was very responsive. Kelli came out several times to bring more wine glasses and dishes and had the contractor stop by to board up one window that had broken glass. They were very flexible with our schedule. We saw a family of manatee right off the deck, as well as some noisy splashing fish that we enjoyed. The whole neighborhood was very quiet, but we were there during off season. There were plenty of pool floats and the tennis court was a huge hit. The surface is like none I've ever seen - even after a rain, we were back on the court in a few minutes. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to seeing it when the renovation...
Read moreWe are purchasing a home in Marco and used Ian at Clausen Properties. Well I should say the whole family at Clausen Properties. Living in Maryland made it difficult to get there to look at homes etc. Ian made it so easy for us and arranged everything. He went to homes and skyped, video recorded and took pictures anytime we needed him. He made it clear to us that he was avaliable to us at any time and any day. When we visited Marco to walk through one home he also had his Dad take my wife and I around to many other locations and basically gave us a tour of the Island that we have come to love. Ian handled getting us an incredible inspector to look over a home we were originally going to purchase....but the inspector found major problems that saved us a lot of headaches. Bart from Alpha Omega Inspections was awesome. Ian came to the rescue and we went and saw some other houses he had in mind for us. Well he made arrangments that day for us to get in since we were only there 2 days. Bingo we found our turnkey home. Bart came out again and we were satisfied that we were purchasing a sound home. Ian again got us back in a later date to let our kids see the home and coordinated all aspects of the purchase. To top it off Ian even offered to allow us to ship home goods to his office until we settle. I can not say enough about Ian Clausen and Clausen Properties. If you are contemplating renting or purchasing a home you should...
