Update: First of all, let me say that I love this theater and the event of 6/30/24 will not change that. HOWEVER, I am so disappointed in what happened! I went in to theater #5 to see a movie. I noticed that there were green lines down half of the movie screen. I had no idea if it was a problem with the the movie or the projector or the screen or what. It was very distracting. After the movie was over, I decided to tell the people in the front so they could look into it. They said they would have the owner check the projector, etc. I said OK. Then I was over reading about some coming attractions and a man that was in the movie also went up to them to tell them about the green lines. The same person told this guy that they were aware and that it has been going on for SEVERAL WEEKS!! Then they offered him a "pass". He said he wasn't complaining, he was reporting. After he left, I turned around and said, "you have known about this for WEEKS?" He said yes, but the have been unable to determine what the problem is. Why have they booked a movie in there then? It's clearly OUT OF ORDER!! I asked if this was the only theater that was having a problem and he said yes. So, don't go into Theater #5 unless you won't be bothered by bright green lines across half of the screen!

Read moreThis is a quaint little theater. It's an old building that most likely used to be one palace Cinema. It now holds five individual theaters. We saw Kenneth Branagh's film Belfast on a holiday weekend. It wasn't too crowded. The seats are comfortable and in spite of the smaller size auditorium, it was quite spacious and comfortable. The sound was great, too.
I want to say a word about the popcorn. It was fabulous! It was fresh and warm. It was light but still crispy. The perfect amount of salt. I mean, it was good enough to get my attention. Well done, Mariemont Theater.
The films that were offered tended to be on the art house, independent side. That fits the venue perfectly.
They have Coke products, the delicious popcorn, and a small assortment of candy. I didn't pay much attention to the rest of the menu.

Read moreWell I'm giving this theater 4 stars for nostalgia. I remember coming here as a child to see Old Yeller and The Apple Dumpling Gang. It looks like we walked back in time and is exactly as I remember. The lobby may be different. I didn't order food or drinks because I was stuffed from dinner, but it looks like they serve wine in addition to the usual movie snacks.
My one negative is that the seats were uncomfortable. Granted, I have a bad back and neck. But it's quaint, not crowded, and Mariemont is sort of adorable, right? We were able to order our tickets in advance and walk right in with the ticket taker scanning our phones.
It's not luxurious, with the big comfy recliners, it's smaller than most theaters. But it's Mariemont with the Tudor buildings and the marquee looked just as I...
