A different kind of walk. The boardwalk across the side of the lake is not like any other place I've been. On a pretty hot day in July, the air was cooler even when the sun broke through the clouds. There's a bouncy quality to the decking used in the boardwalk. The forest part of the loop is shaded and mostly flat, but with protruding tree roots. While there is poison ivy along the sides of the trail, it is easily avoided. We went on a weekend, so we could park at the courthouse lot, which is small. The other parking is near the wooded part of the loop, further down the road Google maps led us to. I understand pet owners would like to be able to walk their dogs, but I actually enjoyed not having to dodge bicycles and dogs that might not be getting along with other dogs. Read moreThis was a great loop to take the kids on. It was easy enough that my 1 (almost 2) year old could walk it herself. The floating bridge was a fun aspect but we went on a super hot day and there's no relief from the sun while you're on the water. We didn't see many fish at all or much wildlife but it is very close to the main road for these reasons I'm giving it 4 stars.
