My 11 year old son was putting a carerra car back in the track. I purchased over 1500. In cars and track and wireless remotes and hundreds of dollars in playmobile here. I have five kids. 29 down to 11. My child is not a kid that disrespects toys. He was nicely placing it back in the track and a young guy who worked there came up behind him and grabbed the car out of his hand. He did not say please put it down etc. I was on the other side of the track with. My wife and was caught off guard how rude and that he had grabbed it out of my sons hand. My wife said something to the older gentleman and his wife at the counter at checkout very nicely about how he grabbed it. Then I was in another aisle with my son and I pulled the cap gun and he came and started saying to my wife tell your kid not to touch the cap gun. My wife had no idea it was me over my son that had pulled it. ( I am a swat medic) he got on my wife’s face when she said she was upset about him grabbing the car off my son. This guy has anger issues and the store protects his rude and anger problem. My wife stepped back because he was so angry. I escorted my son out if the store quickly. My wife followed and I will never buy from here again. You lost a great customer and Your employee with the anger problem with definitely do it again. With all my training and 26 years of experience dealing with people. This guy is a time bomb waiting to explode on a customer. It’s suppose to be a toy store not a adult store, where a well behaved child with manners can not touch! The employees reply to my wife was you should see how Kids treat the cars. Not every kid is bad and to grab an item from a kid is unacceptable behavior. My son did not even reply to him or have any idea what to say to him we were all so caught off guard. The bad reviews believe them. As far as toys it’s a great store but certainly not worth the abuse you encounter! I use to love this store for the old fashion toys and small business I love to support but not with Anger issues...
Read moreIn trying to find a drive gear for a mid-80's Lionel 0-gauge engine I called as this is the only local place around anymore. I read all the good reviews but when I spoke with 'Chris' he was a bit indignant and course with me. I understand that he could not guess as to the part but he didn't need to be rude about it. I was also told they don't have train parts like that (even though the website says they have parts) and that he "wasn't going to ruin a $100 train for a $5 part". I never asked for that - nor would I have ever expected him to do so.
I figured that if they had gears that I would drive down and they could look at it to help figure out what I needed. Seemed reasonable - I just wanted to know if they had anything since it is a 35-minute drive one-way.
He did give me the number of a parts guy but then said "if I don't have the part number then I'll hear a dial-tone". There is no part number on the gear, nor are there any numbers on the train itself to help narrow it down (hence why I would have gone to the store if they were willing to help). This is not due to wear btw, other than the gear the engine is in great shape.
Maybe he was having a bad day or he just did't care to help someone who needs such a low-priced item but regardless, I won't attempt to use them again. It's disappointing as I try to support any local small business. I have a child that really likes trains so it is a loss for them in the end as I would have likely used...
Read moreWent in there on a weekday with my brother, who was working for Toys R Us at the time, went over to the die cast section to see what they had. Was immediately followed there by one of his clown clerks who made it so obvious that he was there to see if we were shoplifting. Thought he was soo funny when I asked him a question about Funko PoP figures which were and still are very hot in the toy business, said he never heard of them, obviously wanted us to leave. We walked around the entire store and were shadowed by clerks everywhere we went. After about twenty minutes of this I decided I wasn’t going to continue to shop nor spend a dime there.I worked in retail for 40 years as a clerk and in mgmt. including store manager at Kay Bee toys for 5 years. I wrote them an email telling them how displeased I was with their store, and never heard back from anyone. I’m now shopping around for a Ho train set for Christmas this year, they are 3 miles from my house, and I know they have what I want, but guess where I won’t shop for...
