Our final stop this trip in our World's Somethingest Somethings scavenger hunt. This is one serious gavel. When they slam this down, that's it. Decision FINAL. This is a beautiful town, and I would have liked to spend more time here, but we were behind schedule, so we snapped a few pics and headed onward to Bloomington. Well worth the stop! I would like to have gotten some info from a local about the opera house (I haven't been to an opera in far too many years) and the historic national road mural. I look forward to stopping here again someday, hopefully with more time to spare.

Strike a Pose with the World’s Largest Wooden Gavel in Marshall, Illinois – A Historic Photo-Op You Can’t Miss! The world’s largest wooden gavel in Marshall, Illinois, is a must-see roadside attraction. Located outside the historic Clark County Courthouse, this 16-foot red oak sculpture honors the legal system and the town’s ties to Abraham Lincoln. Created by local artist Jim Bolin, it’s beautifully crafted and perfect for a quick photo op. A quirky and memorable stop for history or art lovers!

This is in the city hall and such a unique thing to see. Moreover, there was a little veteran memorial thing outside the city hall. I would recommend you to visit Marshall and see the Gavel and learn a little about the town. We learned that there were different lions' status all around town, and they were sponsored by local businesses and decorated by high school graduates. Each year, the graduates get to...
