Weâre from out of state and stumbled upon Silo while passing through Marshall, Illinois â and let me just say, it was the best detour we could have possibly made. We were simply looking for a bite to eat, but what we got was a full-on experience that we havenât stopped talking about since. If youâre even remotely nearby, trust me: this place is worth going out of your way for.
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like regulars. The energy in the restaurant is warm, modern, and inviting â you can immediately tell itâs a place where locals gather, memories are made, and care goes into every part of the operation. It just has that magic âfeel-goodâ vibe.
We were quickly greeted by a friendly host and seated right away. Our server was phenomenal â upbeat, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and drink selections. As out-of-towners, we appreciated the extra time they took to explain some of the specialties and give us personalized recommendations.
Now letâs talk about the margarita flights. WOW. Iâve had my fair share of margaritas over the years, but nothing compares to the quality and creativity of Siloâs lineup. Each flight comes beautifully presented and packed with flavor â not overly sugary or watered down like some places, but strong, smooth, and genuinely delicious. We tried flavors weâd never even seen before, and every single one was a hit.
They use fresh ingredients, and you can really taste the difference. From the tangy citrus to the subtle spice in some of the more adventurous flavors, itâs obvious the drinks are crafted with skill and intention. It wasnât just a drink order â it felt like a little event of its own. We took photos, shared sips, and kept saying, âOkay, THIS oneâs my favorite⌠no wait, THIS one.â
The food? Out of this world. You can tell the kitchen takes serious pride in what they serve. Everything came out hot, fresh, and plated beautifully. We ordered a mix of shareables and entrees, and there wasnât a single miss. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming.
Thereâs this perfect mix on their menu â comfort classics with elevated twists. Whether youâre in the mood for hearty, cheesy, crispy, fresh, or light, youâll find something to fall in love with. Itâs clear that the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced where possible, and the flavors are bold, balanced, and thoughtfully composed.
One thing that really stood out to us as visitors was how genuinely kind everyone was. Not just polite, but kind. Our server checked in often without hovering, and even the owners stopped by to chat and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. You can feel that this restaurant is not just a business â itâs a passion project. And it shows in every interaction.
By the end of the night, we felt like we were part of the Silo family. It was one of those rare dining experiences that fills your belly and your heart. We kept joking that we wished we could take Silo home with us â or better yet, just move to Marshall and make it our regular spot.
The ambiance is stylish yet cozy, with just the right lighting and music level to create a relaxed, welcoming mood. Whether youâre out for a casual dinner or celebrating something special, the space feels perfect for any occasion.
As out-of-state visitors, we truly werenât expecting to find a restaurant this top-tier in a small town. But Silo proved that great food, amazing drinks, and even better people can be found where you least expect it. Weâre already planning our next trip and will absolutely make Silo our first stop.
To the entire team â thank you for going above and beyond. Your service, hospitality, and talent made our night unforgettable. We came in as strangers and left as loyal fans.
Silo is an absolute must-visit â a hidden gem thatâs doing everything right. Weâd give it 10 stars if we could....
Read moreI had heard their breaded tenderloin sandwich was worth the trip to Marshall, IL and it did not disappoint! We happened to be literally across the street so mom and I stopped in. Nice menu of variety. Great presentation. Nice proportions. Very very good food. Talked to most patrons there at the time and they were regulars! Cute place. AC was blinky in the main room but was comfortable in their overflow room. Extra parking N side of street. A slight bit pricey but it was good. Homemade chips and fries were really good. The ONLY issue I had was the older bleach blonde, burnt skined waitress. I only describe this way so you don't miss her. The other young gal was great! Zero common sense waitress skills. She yelled across the small room to various tables instead of walking up to them. Interupted everyone's meal because nobody knew who she was talking to. Sometimes she wasn't looking at anyone! She managed to do this nearly everytime while standing just to right and behind me. I cringed just now reliving it for this post. My ears! My nerves! Her mouth was almost as big as her hair. Swear to god. She also brought us a half inch thick of fancy napkins three times. Overkill. Waste. No offer of refill. Don't know if she is friend/family, but she needs a different position. Maybe emergency broadcast station. Needs another way to satisfy her attention seeking needs. Sorry, I know this was harsh, but for a small cute restaurant, this was the only thing to damage the experience...
Read moreI might actually have to try this place again because what you see on Facebook compared to Google are two different things. It was just so bad I have to believe it was an off night. We ordered the charcuterie board and it looked like they searched everyone's lunches for stuff to put on there. Cubed ham and turkey. Cubed cheddar and white American, stale pretzel sticks, old M&M trail mix and what seemed to be leftover cantaloupe. My wife ordered wine and they gave it to her in a plastic hotel cup. Now to be fair they did give us a $25 certificate which comped that charcuterie board so I'm thankful. What I find irritating is transparency. If you don't have what you need to make it, just say so. We didn't stick around for dinner. The inside needs a serious revamp. Get rid of the stained donated banquet hall chairs and fix the outdoor patio area. This just emphasizes that "Its good enough" scene that plagues central Illinois restaurants. Like I said, it was so awful I actually need to just give them the benefit of the doubt and pray it was just a terrible off night. I'll edit my review after we go back sometime. To the owner: When would you suggest coming back? We came on a Saturday evening which seemed like peak time. So maybe you have a better suggestion for when...
