Fiance and I stayed in Suite 1058 in tower (Melrose?) to the right of hall towards hotel part of casino. It was spacious with high ceilings, area for social gatherings, his/her sinks, vanity area with makeup mirror (awesome for primping!), 2 bathrooms, a separate shower and jacuzzi bath tub, and comfy beds. Overall, it was quite nice with the amenities offered; unfortunately, certain details took away from the grandeur of it all.
The design is quite nice, but a bit dated casino "royale-esque" look, and although not a big deal to me personally, but according to the mans the 2 flat screen TVs were too small, dated, and should be upgraded along with the room's general makeover.
The room definitely needed some maintenancing and a good thorough cleaning with attention to detail. Perhaps this particular suite has been vacant awhile but one of the sinks apparently needed declogging as it was clearly slow to drain when we first arrived for our 5-6 night stay. Makeup mirror was dirty with residue perhaps from hairspray, there were "tumbleweeds" of hair on the floor in the corners, there was a spider with its web in another corner, maybe a bit of wine and/or soda splatter on glass framed art and ceiling/trim.
Despite the little details I probably would have left a 4-5-star review. What knocked it down was our finding of a BEDBUG and their perceived handling of the situation. It was suppose to be our last night when we were getting ready for bed and the one little fella was found just square on the pillow. Initially, we think it's just a rando bug but then second guessed it and caught it to get close inspection and Google search...it's deadass identical match to BEDBUGS!! We frantically search the bed sheets, mattress, and pillows for signs of infestation or blood and there was none that we could see. We did however find random things like a scrunchy left behind from a previous guest. So that made us really wonder how well is this place really cleaned or bedding changed?
We proceed to call front desk and spoke to Daphne regarding the situation at close to 1AM, and she surprisingly was calm about it and said that security will be up shortly to take down our report and we can come down and get transferred to another room afterwards. We waited at least 30min before calling back Daphne to check if security was still on their way. And to that, she said to go ahead to front desk for our keys to another room and security will meet us there for the report. We were worried about the one bedbug we caught would escape as we only had one of their postcards to place over the top of the cup to keep it contained but were told to leave it and it would be taken care of.
Daphne had our room changed to another tower that wasn't a suite as none others were available and it was handicap accessible, but we really didn't care and just wanted a safe, comfy place to finally sleep. It wasn't as "nice" as the suite but it was nice in that it seemed newly updated with an appealing more modern look and a bigger, supposedly new and better TV than the suite's and even more comfier beds.
Well, we settled in for a good nights sleep and never heard from security. We were never contacted by the hotel about any report and we've checked out 10 days ago now. I really wouldn't be surprised if housekeeping came by and took the cup with the bedbug in it not realizing it was there. I've since searched online and seems there has been at least 1 report of bedbugs at this hotel in the past (although it was years ago) but it honestly makes me wary of staying here again.
Now we're afraid we may have brought hitchhikers home with us, hopefully not. We utilized the 100F+ weather and left our luggage and items in the car and allowed it to bake in the MO sun for a few hours, and then few more days baking in car of FL sun when we arrived back home. Planning on throwing everything directly into the washer, dryer, maybe even steam for good measure and are throwing out our luggage. Will keep posted if we start having...
Read moreTreated horribly on more than 1 occasion! I am an ELITE player with Penn@Rivercity and was ELITE@Both Hollywood and RC last year which means I am an active player. I go often and I'm familiar to the staff and they are familiar of me. Unfortunately I have had a couple of situations with the staff over the YEARS I have been going to Hollywood casino that ended up with me being told I can't go back to Hollywood casino or I'll be arrested!! I am not going to bad mouth ALL of Hollywood Casino staff or Penn but it needs to be said that certain security officers there take personal shots using the job or their position to create situations that can force their will on patrons they dislike. If they dislike you they can and will detain you (for ANY REASON!!). If they want you trespassed, well then you're trespassed (for ANY reason!!) Then that's it..You can NEVER come back to play, stay at the hotel or even visit Hollywood casino again in your life!! I feel I was treated unfairly because of my mental and emotional issues. I take stong medications to avoid having episodes in public but it still happens on occasion. After my stroke I have had times where I don't know who I am or what's going on around me. I don't know exactly what I am like, but I was told I may sing really loudly, I have fainted, walk off and get lost but I am usually just really confused. I have never caused any violence or botherd operations at the casino. So tell me why I have been handcuffed and treated like a threat by a security team that is aware of my mental issues and is supposed to provide me with safety while I am there. Instead I was threatened, treated HORRIBLY had my vehicle heavily searched, ransacked on several occasions never finding ANYTHING ILLEGAL, staffs behavior is never justified and they have never apologized. I've been harassed by security and law enforcement in both the parking lot and garage areas while waiting for a friend to arrive or just having a timeout after suffering a Big Loss. Nope, Can't do that at HOLLYWOOD casino🙎 If you're schizcophrentic and you have an episode, you can be sure you will be treated badly. It's sad really, that a few vindictive people can get away with the way they treat mental health issues as criminal, target and harass guest, ruining the great experience Penn offers at Hollywood. Even though I was a regular player, ELITE level, assigned to a HOST and familiar to staff I never felt safe at Hollywood....Not from criminals but from staff. That's because a couple years ago I was enjoying the Hotel experience at Hollywood when I had a Hotel staff member break into my room and steal from me! A housekeeping master key was used to get in my room I'm sure because the door was not damaged. When I reported this to staff and security I was again treated as a liar or criminal and asked to leave! I can't make this up, it shocked me and gave me real fear about staying at any hotels again!! I should have made a huge deal about staff breaking in my room and stealing🤐 It was ON Camera but they swept it and me away like it never happened and just quietly fired the staff who broke in my room. I never got any of my money reimbursed....not a single penny! Now I really enjoy Hollywood as a casino and a place to go for some fun and socializing. The place is the closest casino to my home, I'm familiar with the area and have had a great report with the(good)staff. I like the machines Penn offers and the table games were always a good time when I played. I mean I am going to miss going to Charlie Gito's casino location or having dinner at 99Hops like we have soo many times😭 So yes, I am upset and saddened the way I have been targeted, harassed and ultimately banned by staff at Hollywood Casino but this is a fair and truthful review. So if you choose Hollywood Casino as a place for gambling or having drinks with your friends or family , be careful not to catch the eye of vindictive security or leave anything of value in your hotel room!! It won't end well and there is NOTHING you can do...
Read moreRooms are never available, no one shows up if you request any assistance, I had surgery on my arm 14 days ago and I just had surgery on my hip yesterday, this is followed by my husband's five vetebral neck fusion surgery 2 months prior because his was life threatening if he fell or was in any minor accident this was all because of an motor vehicle accident that was not our fault. BUT APPARENTLY NONE OF THOSE FACTORS matters to the Hollywood NOW, because THEIR EMPLOYEES come before guests and EMPLOYEES HAVE AMPLE PARKING CLOSE TO THE DOOR BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIGN ANY ADDITIONAL HANDICAPPED PARKING THERE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. It takes me twice as long to get to the door, so my husband always goes to get the car for me and most of the time it would be ENOUGH TIME FOR ME TO GET TO IT AFTER USING THE LADIES ROOM FOR THE TWO HOUR DRIVE HOME. TODAY I WAS VERY BUSY DEPENDENT ON USING MY CANE AND IN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF PAIN. Half way to the exit I called my husband to tell him that I was having trouble because I tried to text him and it was impossible for me to text, keep the cane straight and me upright and not menir fall to the floor. I hadn't made it to the ladies room and I was not able to skip that, but while I am explaining to him what's happening inside the casino entrance there were two security guards (I use the term loosely because it is quite apparent that they don't have any understanding of what a fire lane is and that it is magically painted with yellow stripes red paint on the wall and posted with a 10ft pylons with signs stating fire lane, they just keep yelling at him telling him he was in the fire lane, he was in fact in the PICK UP LANE. Uber, LyFT, DOOR DASH AND TAXI DRIVERS ALL USE THAT LANE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO SHUT THEIR MOUTHS LONG ENOUGH FOR MY HUSBAND THAT I WAS ONLY MOMENTS AWAY. While I was getting my belongings from the bathroom door I received another call. What a complete and utter failure of customer care and customer service, I walk out and actually wished to speak to the idiots who were hassling us, and show them exactly what and where the fire lane is, they only wished to yell, yell at me because I had the audacity to try educate them that the fact that to park the vehicle must be empty and at least off, my husband was standing in a pick up zone just like all the ride share companies do, they only wished to hassle someone to look like they were doing their job, if this establishment ever wants to see any more of my money they need to call me and make and honest attempt to get me back, we have been coming here for years but we not return until they call me and my husband and straighten this out. THERE'S PLENTY OF ATTORNEYS THAT WOULD LOVE TO JUMP ON A LACK ADA ACCOMMODATION IN ST LOUIS AND I KNOW ONE IN SPRINGFIELD. I SUGGEST SOMEONE CALL US BEFORE...
