Mattoon Peterson Park — Attraction in Mattoon

Went here a couple week old ago and walked through the Christmas lights with the wife, daughter and greatkids and had a great time! I had no idea the walk through was so popular. There were sooo many people there. It was unbelievable. We started off by getting some warm cinnamon pecans and almonds and would've gotten hot chocolate too but, the line was too long.(we should've brought our own) The kids got to see, talk to and get pics with Santa. Great place for lots of fun doing various activities. There is a playground area for the kids, big and small. There is also a mini golf course that is great for birthdays. There is a large covered Pavillion for larger gatherings of friends and family. Every July, usually in the middle of the month, The Mattoon BagelFest comes to town with a wide variety of vendors with food and memorable knick nacks. I stopped here to eat lunch and found a nice quiet shaded area with a picnic table. There were quite a few tables available and well spaced out. The park was quiet with minimal foot or car traffic. The park was clean and I was able to find nearby trash cans that had been well maintained.
