Our stay at Maui Garden Oasis was perfect! From the location to the view, I would recommend this space to any Maui traveler who values authentic experiences over fancy resort pools.
MGO is a small B&B (6 rooms) nestled in a neighborhood between Lahaina and Kaanapali. The neighborhood is full of beautiful flowers and mountain/ocean views. Immediately, I felt a bit more like a local. The location was perfect for hitting beaches in Kaanapali and shops/dining in Lahaina (about a 5-8 min drive to each).
The room (as described) has a king bed, mini fridge, kitchenette with microwave, and several dishes/silverware. The bathroom is full of natural light, and has a large vanity. Blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. The room had a spacious deck with a panoramic ocean view and lounge chairs + bistro table with umbrella- We star gazed at night and whale watched during the day (saw a full breach by a beautiful humpback and tons of blows and fin slaps).
The real amenities lie in the shared space- MGO offers tons of beach gear to be borrowed- a variety of chairs, coolers, umbrellas, sunscreen (reef safe!), beach towels, toys, floaters, AND MORE! I can’t overstate how amazing this is- similar rentals would cost a small fortune to rent.
The host was not available when I arrived, but I was greeted by a sweet black cat & check in directions. We met the host later in our stay and he was so kind and welcoming.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!...
Read moreStayed here only 1 night so it is unfortunate that we did not have enough time to turn our experience around about the place. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean. It certainly had its merits.
We booked it for one night through Expedia, and our total charges were emailed to us. However, when we showed up the next day, they had no record of our reservation and we were told that we were "lucky" that they had a room available anyways. Not exactly what we wanted to hear considering we had paid $150 US for a room in advance, and to be told we are fortunate to get a room for that price. The breakfast the next day was nothing more than a continental breakfast (which is fine), however, when it is advertised as a bed and breakfast, I just expected to have a few more culinary options at breakfast. A few days after checking out, I checked my Visa statement and to my surprise, there was an additional $30US charge to the initial statement from Expedia. I was told this was a non refundable "cleaning fee" which most places included in their final price. We would have had better value staying at a regular hotel in comparison. Even accommodation services such as AirBNB have the cleaning fees shown at the checkout price, so I found it oddly inconvenient to receive a charge after the fact.
Ultimately, the room was clean and comfortable, however, it was very small considering the total final price of $176...
Read moreI can't complain too much. It's been a while since we've been there and overall it was an average B and B. Parking wasn't really a problem except for going places. There's lots of pay parking and a few places like grocery stores that are free. We ended up walking a lot. The room was pretty clean and had a nice view from the second floor. Being from Texas we got up super early and could watch the sunrise. The breakfast was not what you should expect though. I saw the exact same stuff at the grocery store and all they really did was cut up some fairly cheap pastries and fruit. And not a lot of it either. The people running it were business friendly but didn't have a lot of time to talk about much of anything. Do not take their suggestions on restaurants! If we had we would have been broke in 2 days and we were staying a week. Do your own research before going to see what you can expect on eating out.
So I guess I can complain. Seeing some of the more recent visitors I'm not sure they have improved...
