I overall enjoyed my time at the McAllen Texas Temple. I did an endowment session on Friday night and then took my kids Saturday morning for baptisms.
I was rather dismayed by the baptisms session. We were put together with a local ward, which was expected. But it seemed to us as if we were intentionally excluded and were mostly ignored except by the temple workers. It felt awkward, really awkward, to be excluded in such a way. I get it, we're not in your ward, but it's the temple and the one place where you know that if people are there with you then they're likely legitimately good folks. The first time it was two women. Today, it was two men who pulled up behind me, rolled down their window, and began speaking at me — all while I was alone and unable to leave.
Whether their intentions are religious outreach or something else, following someone home and trapping them in their driveway is not acceptable behavior. It’s invasive, intimidating, and completely inappropriate. I shouldn’t have to feel unsafe in front of my own home.
This kind of aggressive approach needs to be addressed. People deserve privacy and peace...

Those promises and covenants simply increase our desire to keep the God’s commandments and as a result we become better husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters, better neighbors and citizens. The McAllen temple represents the hard work of many faithful members that have been pioneers on this area, leaders and thousands of missionaries that have been serving with all their heart. It will be beautiful and will be a blessing for all the people...
