Petersen Park — Attraction in McHenry

Came for Bands, Brews & Barbecue. $15.00 to walk in. Beers $5.00,$8.00 for premium beers & drinks. Average price of food items is $12.00, although you can find a few things for $8.00 or $9.00. Many other things are $16.00-$18.00. It is a very nice setting & stage set-up. I guess what I'm saying is that festivals aren't a cheap night out anymore. Beautiful spot to watch the sunset. No lifeguards at the beach. Kids should definitely wear a life jacket in the water. Good place for kids to play in the sand and water or run around in the fields. I taught my kid how to fly a kite in this park too. It’s a large grassy area with few trees/power lines, so it was a perfect spot. This is also where McHenry holds concerts, weekend festivals, and the carnival. Really nice spot to sit and watch the water too. I enjoy coming here...

I love this place, especially as a location for festivals, like the Blues, Brews, and BBQ festival run by the city of McHenry. They and the volunteers do a stellar job running these events year after year. The park itself is well maintained and sites lakeside.
