My husband and I signed up for the cornhole class to celebrate our anniversary. We walked in 5 minutes before our class was scheduled to start. No one greeted us. We went to the table that was empty and then were told to sand our boards. Then, we were told we could choose to stain or paint the boards. We chose to stain them and were told that was fine. We were handed foam brushes and not given any other guidance. We began staining and an older gentleman came in. He tried to shake our hands and we politely refused due to the pandemic. My husband elbowed him and I waved. He then put his elbow in my face to where I was forced to elbow him back. He then stood and stared at us staining. He did not offer any help and would just stare at us to the point where we were both uncomfortable. He would occasionally criticize us and point out missed places, but did not offer to help. One of the owners came over and asked a question about how we were staining and I informed her we were not given any guidance and that at other places they teach...she walked away after that comment and never returned. The employees made several comments about how long it was taking for the stain to dry. Then we were told to remove the back from the template. At Board and Brush they do this part for you as it is tedious and time consuming for people who don’t do it often. Then, we were told to put tape over the template and I did it the way instructed by one of the employees. The older gentleman employee told me I was doing it wrong and the other employee said it was fine. Meanwhile, the employees were correcting our staining because they said it didn’t look good. We put the template on with the employee and then they noticed it was too far over so it had to be redone completely. I appreciated them fixing that. We worked on the other board and put on primer (glue) as instructed. We then painted with a sponge. When it was time to remove the template, the board was completely scratched up as the primer pulled up the actual wood along with the stain. The owner agreed that it looked horrible and offered to refund or make new ones. While I appreciate that they did make it right in the end, the experience was horrible. We wanted to be able to tell people we helped to make the boards for years to come and now all we have is an experience that was pretty miserable and being basically told to leave so they could just do it. The owner did say they learned a lot and will not stain cornhole boards in the future but I wish they would have worked out the kinks on a practice board and not on ours. I also hope they work on their customer service. I will...
Read moreHad the BEST time here at a friend's bday party Friday night! The staff were so friendly and helpful and the ambiance, decor, and all around atmosphere was just amazing. Our table helper was a joy to work with-immeditately relatable due to his authenticity and passion for creating a not just fun, but meaningful experience. He's the best!
I was invited as a guest and got to choose my project and (me being me) really wanted a custom quote on my doormat project. I figured if they could do it, great, but didn't hold my breath for it and it would have been just as fine and fun if they hadn't been able to accommodate. But they really came through! The stencil they made from my request was exactly what I was hoping for and the end product makes me smile multiple times a day when I see and use it.
5 out of 5- would definitely recommend and hope to...
