This was, without question, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Zara Thai completely failed on every level, starting with the atmosphere. The moment I stepped in, I regretted it. The space felt depressing, poorly maintained, and completely lacking in character. The lighting was harsh and sterile, making the room feel more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Tables were crammed together, the décor looked cheap and outdated, and the overall vibe was cold, unwelcoming, and downright unpleasant. There was no warmth, no energy, nothing inviting about it — just a dull, lifeless room that immediately set the wrong tone.
The food did absolutely nothing to make up for it. Everything tasted bland and greasy, with zero freshness and none of the vibrant flavors that Thai food is supposed to have. Portions were small, dishes came out lukewarm, and the presentation was sloppy at best. It felt like the kitchen put in the bare minimum of effort, and the results were completely forgettable — if not outright bad.
Service was no better. The staff were disengaged, inattentive, and seemed annoyed to even be there. Requests were brushed off, and it was difficult to get any kind of help without waving someone down multiple times. At no point did I feel welcome or valued as a customer.
For the sky-high prices they’re charging, this is honestly insulting. Everything about Zara Thai screams corner-cutting and lack of care, from the dreary atmosphere to the poor food to the indifferent service. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. There are countless Thai restaurants that actually deliver quality and hospitality — Zara Thai is absolutely not...

This place is near my house so I was looking forward to checking it out. Posted closing time is 9:30. I arrived at 9:00 to dine in. The young man who greeted me was quite rude, as if I was imposing, stating that the dining room was closed.
Disappointed, I asked if I could order take out. He said yes so I sat down to look at the menu. About one minute later, middle aged woman asks for my order, but I wasn't ready. She gives me a nasty look and a sigh, then storms off to the kitchen.
A couple minutes later, I step to the counter to order an entree. Different younger woman states that I may only order soup, salad, or an appetizer. Why didn't anyone tell me? For the next 15 minutes I see several entree orders being bagged to go. I ordered Pho and egg rolls.
When my order comes out of the window, I asked the original greeter for soy sauce, hot mustard, and sweet and sour sauce. He was very much "put out" with this simple, standard request, dramatically flailing around, throwing the condiments in the bag. Then in the most passive aggressive tone, he asks "What else do you want?"
Wow.
I'm an older guy, I've dined at thousands of restaurants all over the world - from 5 star to McDonald's. Not only restaurants, this is THE WORST experience I've had from any business establishment...EVER! The level of total disrespect to a customer patronizing your business is shocking.
Sorry I walked through your door to give you money. Clearly it was a major...
Read moreI had glass noodles with shrimp and assorted vegetables. It's was ok, nothing to be exited about. I have had some better Thai dishes in my lifetime, Service was substandard to say the least. When I left, I had forgotten and left my phone, some drinks on the table, I purchased from the breads shop adjacent to the restaurant. They sell guletin free bread by the way. Back to the story. When I called the restaurant to enquire about my belongs, I was told that I did in fact, left them at the restaurant. However, when I arrived to pick them up, only my phone was returned to me. I was wondering, what about my other belongs? They basically played dumb and stated that they had thrown my unopened drinks and other belongings in the garbage. I found that very suspicious. I had only left the restaurant for only 15 to 20 minutes. I told them that was unfair, they could have kept my stuffs for me to pick up. Anyways, they failed to give me a proper explanation and just walked away, leaving me standing at the cashiers station stunned for the most part. I ended up walking away, got in my car and drove away. Oh, you just loss a nice customer. Guys, you need to learn how to treat your customers right. They pay your bills. Remember, it is not only about the food, it's the TOTAL experience and sharing the experience with friends and family. Definitely, will not be visiting again. Check out the Thai Restaurant on 380 on Lake Forrest! Great food and...
