We came in this morning at 9am and spent 2.5 hours purchasing several firearms. The staff was kind and helpful.
At approximately 1:00 pm we received a call from Blackbirds telling us we where approved and could come and pickup our firearms. We arrived at 1:30 pm spoke the the person who called. He made a comment to us, "I thought you said you would be in the store in 2 hours" I apologized for being early. He told us he would get our firearms but, it would be a few minutes becuase he had to check them out. We said no problem take your time. After about 10 minutes he came back to us and said you are not approved. I was like, "why did you call and say we where approved"? Then he denied he had said we where approved. I said you told us we could come in and pick up our firearms. When I asked to talk to a manager a older lady behind the computer shouted I am the manager. I asked her what happened. She had no reasonable answer for us. I said you must not be doing your job then. After I made this comment her demeanor changed. She threatened to take my name off the gun purchases. I asked to speak to her boss. She told me she was highest manger. Then another male store employee made this comment under his breath, quote "You can buy your guns somewhere else".
We were in shock how rude the store associates were to us. They made it seem it was our fault for even coming into the store. They didnt even offer an apology for making the mistake. We are not upset becuase we didn’t get the firearms. We are upset over how they treated us. Note: These were not the same people who helped us early in the morning. No. These people were rude and very unkind.
We spend a lot of money in this store every year. I hope the General Manager Tyler reads this and does something about it.
Update November 20th, 2022. I took Blackbirds associate advice and went somewhere else to purchase firearms. Sportsman Warehouse was more knowledgeable and had a far better selection of firearms at a better price than Blackbirds. This being said. I will never again shop at Blackbirds. I will buy my work clothes, boots and sporting goods from stores that treat me with respect and kindness.
Go ahead lady manager. Take my name off the firearms purchase. I will not be completing the purchase...
Read moreIt is a tragedy that 1 star has to be given. I rode my Gary Fisher bike down to Blackbird with the intent on pricing out a new knife sharpener. My wife wanted me to go and peruse the different sharpeners and let her know which one to buy me for Christmas. Normal right?? Well the first employee did help out, answered any and all questions I had, shared some sharpening stories, and appreciated that I wanted a quality knife sharpener. He recommended a company that is local to Ashland and makes amazing products. Within 10 minutes of the first employee "escorting" me around I was back in the sharpener area and was writing down different pertinent info I needed in order to choose the best tool for me. Then I looked up and an obvious "security" was at the end of the isle with another employee and started walking briskly towards me...almost attempting to be intimidating at the least. When they approached me they were basically blocking me from escaping and told me that I need to leave the store! I said "excuse me? What is the problem?" They told me that I am to leave the store and NOT come back!! I politely asked them the reason why and was informed that the people above them told them that I needed to go. And this isa private business am they don't need a reason why. I looked down at my clothing to check if I had soiled myself or if I was wearing something controversial...I was wearing a baseball cap, new Columbia jacket, nice blue jeans, an a pair of 1 month old Under Armour boots. Due to me being on the Autistic scale I nearly shut down and sat on the sidewalk until a friend was able to come and help me leave. I was distraught, clearly upset, and made to feel like I am trash. Not once was I loud, or caused any problems. I'm glad I will NEVER SPEND A DOLLAR AT THIS OR ANY BLACKBIRD STORES. I RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE ELSE DO THE SAME. well at least until I receive an apology. This is the kind of behaviour that causes people like me...
Read moreAugust the 30th, I was at the blackbird store in Medford when I heard a man scream out "take that out of your pocket ", startled I turned and looked at whom the man could have been talking about but there was no one around me so I said "you talking to me "?, just take out what's in your pocket ! He replied ...beings the only thing in my pocket was my wife's pocket book ,which she had just handed me before leaving about 5 minutes prior ( thank God).. I said "what my wallet "? The man then told me I had to leave . I volunteered for him to search me , go ahead I said and he told me he had the right to refuse service to anyone ,so I dasked " based on what ? You being wrong and looking stupid "? Now I have to go ? This type of behavior is profiling and ignorant and up until this moment I tried to look at them as a family store but to let a man of this Calibur :who man has no problems embarrassing a person in front of a whole store, and not even admit when he's wrong sos that to the 90 percent that didn't see me empty my pockets think I am a shoplifter ,,shows not only a complete lack of judgement but a complete lack of integrity and shows no concern for the staples in which a business is bun baby no employees stood up either shows that this lack of respect and judgment upon hiring has been going on for quite some time . I will bring my business and my money elsewhere next...
