I Live on a farm, an hours drive each way into town. I had a water leak problem from the well tank to my house -- some of the connectors were leaking. No big deal right? Easy fix, as I have an engineering type of brain. WRONG!!! These connections were so tightly fit and angled there wasn't a quarter inch to spare. Also every connection was glued (welded) together. I had vision of cutting pipes and multiple inserts. After attemping twice at the discount store to gather the parts on my own spending a couple of hours staring/glaring at every connector part ever made) and then traveling back with parts I thought would be the fix (8 hours of wasted time). Finnally, I decided to go to Grovers and took a number. Sterling called me to the counter and I proudly showed him the pics on my phone and a paper diagram of all the connection parts (which I might add, had all the widths & lengths of each part). I discussed how I thought it should be done. He gently explained what I was attempting to do would not work....lol. He explained the only way to disconnect it all and how to avoid causing other issues disconnecting. Also that the leaking metal pipe amoung all the PVC connectors was a pressure regulator. A what I said...as my education continued! Needless to say, Sterling went and gathered up the parts I would need (including a pressure regulator). I purchased the parts he recommended. An hour later I got home and within 10 minutes, using Sterling's directions, I had taken it all apart and put it back together. No more leaks! How sweat it is when you go to...
Read moreGrover's has always felt a little like walking back in time whenever you enter the store, but I don't mean that in a bad way. Grover's provides a level of service seldom seen in home improvement stores. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I know many people are put-off by the way you have to take a ticket for service, but once you have a person to help you there is no doubt that you came to the right place. It's almost too bad that they really only cover electric and plumbing supplies as it would be nice to have them available for other home improvement projects. The prices at Grover's are very fair especially when you consider the lever of service that provide. Another nice feature of the store is that they carry a number of otherwise hard to find plumbing items that you might otherwise have to order. Every time I have been in any of their stores I see a van or truck from a local electrician or plumber parked outside. Any place that's this popular with the professionals that do this for a living, should be a good source for you average do...
Read moreOregon State has a written policy of a septic tank capability to statically hold water at a steadfast holding of 48 hours. The Grover sold tank by infiltrator failed this required test. The Klamath Falls store manager took over two weeks and did not call me back. I had to call him. After I told him that no written directions were with the tank when purchased, no oral advice was available by a 16 year veteran employee, and I tried Henrys #8 roofing caulk, alien latex caulk, $13.00 per tube silicone caulk, and then finally utilizing fib, reglass bondo , the matter was solved. This painstaking process resulted in 4 round trips for me, hotel charges, food expense, mileage, gasoline.....some costs and damages of $1,700. in damages....All due to Grovers did NOT know the product they were selling..... And yes Grover has the verbiage replete on their store frontage about you'll be happy at grovers NOT....Do they CARE ? NO. Know Oregon Laws pertaining to products they sell.NO.
