What a lovely surprise! We moved from the Seattle area (translated: great Chinese restaurants) to the Medford area 4 years ago and have found lots of great restaurants and food trucks but the local Chinese restaurants have been a disappointment. Until now. Orchid Gardens is a breath of fresh air—and fresh tasting food. We felt it was our duty to try as many dishes as we could handle to get a good variety: combination fried rice (a regular must for us), Mongolian Beef, Moo Shu Chicken (we’ve only ever had the pork version), salt and pepper shrimp, and Peking pork loin. First of all, the presentations were beautiful and the food was as good as it looked. The pork was tender and not over breaded, the mooshoo was flavorful and fresh tasting, the other dishes were delicious as well. But what topped things off was being served by Michelle (her American name) who go-owns the restaurant with her hubby. She was so pleasant and engaging, asked for our opinions on adding wine to the menu (currently they serve beer), shared her history and how they came to open the restaurant in January, and told us how they bought it from the previous owner who had a Thai restaurant there and so they also serve Thai Food (which we’ll have to sample next time) in honor of the family who had owned it. Getting to know the owner and their philosophies is definitely a plus for us. And for those who like a deal the food is very reasonable. They also deliver through DoorDash and GrubHub. Can’t recommend...
Read moreI never knew this place existed due to it's location so I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the hospitality of the woman who greeted me. I had a big order for my whole team and am used to nearly everyplace getting something wrong or failing to include something but this not only got the large order correct this pleasant woman who may have been the owner assured we had it all and packaged everything with care. She even helped carry the order to my vehicle. This wouldn't be a shocking thing in past times but hospitality these days is like a wilting, once well cared for houseplant so it stands out so much here. The food itself was good. The pad Thai was not overly sweet, tangy or ketchupy tasting. The orange chicken was tender but not soggy and nothing was overly fried. And the crab puffs actually had good flavor and not just hot cream cheese filled overfried dough in old oil that look like the weird enemy's in Starfox 64.
I will say I had trouble accessing the parking lot and had to kinda creep through the Uhaul lot to backtrack so pay attention and don't speed up as you drive up the highway because that's where people start to increase their speed heading north so it's easy to shoot right past.
Thank you for the great service! I shall return soon and try dining in at your wonderful quaint...
Read moreI have ordered so many times from this restaurant and it was always good. Today for the first time, they got something wrong and sent some weird shrimp dish instead of the normal (D) Salt and Pepper Dishes shrimp that I always get. I called the restaurant to see if they were maybe out of the shrimp and that is why they substituted. The lady I spoke to was SO RUDE and basically said I was lying. She insisted it was the same dish (which I can assure you it was not). I even offered to purchase the dish again if she could ensure me that it would be prepared as usual. Instead of agreeing she just argued with me and said I was wrong. I literally ordered from this place twice a week. She singlehandedly lost my business. I would encourage you to avoid ordering from this restaurant since they obviously don't care about...
