After being a member and officer of Lakeview Credit Union, to say the least I’m very disappointed in Verve, a credit union. I have had unauthorized monies removed from my accounts (Verve did replace the money), I was unable to open a new account because no one in the branch could do that. When I did get the account open, they didn’t have the automatic deposit set up correctly. I recently travelled out of the country and tried using my Verve debit card. I found their exchange rate to be average, but was very surprised to find a “foreign cur con fee”! You will not see this fee on Verve’s webpage “Consumer Account Summary” page! The other credit union I use doesn’t charge anything for using my card outside the US. I strongly suggest you look at and compare fees on Verve’s webpage “Consumer Account Summary” page! When you call Verve they will tell you “This is Verve, A Credit Union”. If they didn’t tell you this, you may very easily confuse them with a bank. If you read the reviews here you will notice the number of people who refer to Verve as a bank. You will find all the fees and rates associated with the big banks. If you really want to tell if it is a credit union or bank, ask to see the president, Kevin Ralofsky. I tried twice and he was never able to see me. Never had that problem when Pat Lowney...
Read moreI was a member at Verve for several years. I closed my accounts a couple of months ago, due to limited locations by my new home. The closing processes turned into a hassle. I was charged for cashiers checks to get my money out of the accounts. Today I called customer service to confirm that all my accounts were actually closed and got the rudest customer service person I’ve ever talked to at Verve. He was condescending and extremely rude. I use to be a big fan of Verve, but my recent experiences have definitely changed my mind.
Update: Not only are the accounts I closed two months ago not closed, they allowed debits to come out on two separate occasions and overdraft the account. We were told that the accounts would be brought current and closed a week ago. After several more calls, emails, and in person stops, the accounts are still NOT closed. Nobody seems to know what’s going on when you talk to someone and there is little to no follow through from any of the employees we’ve talked with. Honestly ridiculous and extremely...
Read moreThe verve on Oneida Street is the worst location I've had to deal with. I had two different experiences. One being the teller telling me I didn't have a certain acct I was trying to pull money from. The second time was when I had an appt at 9:30 and there was a number to call, so I did and the lady on the phone said "someone will come get you" after getting in contact with them (It's COVID so everything was by appt). After waiting for an hour and calling the number twice to be disconnect twice; I drove to the drive-thru. All the lady could say was "You're appt was at 9:30 and it's been an hr now. Connie has your contact information and she'll contact you. Sorry" Let me remind you I was in their parking lot at 9:20 and called the number. I used to drive half an hour to visit the Witzel location branch and these experiences within a two week span has reminded me why I take the drive- just thought they would...
