First day of the fair and the weather couldn't have been nicer! Lots of food vendors and a carnival full of rides. The animals and their owners were there in force, but the displays of farm produce weren't anything to write home about. Ag is big business here, why weren't there more? The ag display bldg seemed semi-barren, but worse were the displays of various arts. They're my favorite part. I'd like to have seen them in a place that offered enough light to appreciate them, and certainly more care should have been taken on their display! Photographic art was pinned to a framework from well above eye-level all the way down to the floor. Who will get a good view of a piece at mouse level?! Certainly no thought or artistry went into their display. Categories we're mixed, higgledy-piggledy. Award ribbons were not attached to the works to which they had been awarded and were so ambiguously located they seemed to reference no nearby work. One photograph had even been displayed sideways! It looked as though the only display priorities had been to cram as many artworks as they could into the smallest amount of space. The display was nothing better than tacky, and grossly unfair to those who submitted their artworks. Have we no art galleries in town? Certainly the fair committee could have sought some counsel and advice. Perhaps The fair committee is in as much need of new blood as the fairgrounds themselves are in need of upkeep and a...
Read moreThis is a great place to bring children and families. They have a great petting zoo. The animals are different each year. This year they had babies which the youngsters seemed to love. The people that work here are very nice. They are excellent with the children. They even accommodate an adult that doesnt have tickets to help a child through the ride. The prices were a little high for food but that is to be expected. The live entertainment was nice. My son is one that love spin the wheel games. And the people let him play over and over because he was so excited. I take my son every year and he gets more excited each year. Also I love the fact that you can prebuy the admissions and wrist brackets for a cheaper price before the first day of the fair and you can choose which day you use those tickets. That is a nice feature. And the fact adults can get in free the first day with cans is a nice feature as well. Makes it easier to take .y son at least one...
Read moreI pick up my grandson here all the time.its a busy street and their are close call misses here every day.when it rains even worse.there is a ten footsection of dirt between street and side walk that turns into a mud slip an slide, On rainy days. My question is why is there such a large amount of red zone there?Fire trucks are not going to fight any fire from that location. So let's turn most of this red zone into parking zone an maybe put in some concrete strips from street to sidewalk so elderly and handicapped can use area more safely.i picked up my grand son to carry him to car to keep his shoes clean an almost lost my footing in mud.If no concrete at least dig up some dirt and put gravel in there to give footing and help drainage.if this area is congested during fair time make it a loading zone or limited...
