In-N-Out Burger — Restaurant in Merced

For the past few months, a friend & I have spent a Friday evening every other week at this In N Out. We actually stopped the 1st time unexpectedly to get ketchup for our meal which we’d made ourselves from home and planned to find somewhere to eat in public like a late night picnic. I figured I’d buy a shake and ask for a few packets of ketchup. We parked in the lot in front and I ran inside. When I returned, we ate, listened to music and people watched while chatting. We sat and watched the various people come and go for hours, making up silly stories about what they were doing. We actually lost track of the time because we were enjoying ourselves and really had nowhere to be so late at night. There was a LOT of foot traffic, everyone from teens to older adults. Everyone was happy, in a good mood and there were really no issues either time. It was a good, well proportioned crowd. Even though by the end of the night we’d been sitting there in our car for 5.5 hours, doing nothing but talking and not causing problems whatsoever, the security didn’t bother us. He saw we weren’t bothering anyone, doing anything suspicious and that after the 1st 3 hours, we were hungry (again) and went inside to buy burgers and drinks. So because of the chill vibe, we ended up spending $ we hadn’t even intended. We even went in & out to use the restrooms a few times with no hassle. The women's was remarkably clean for the foot traffic. My point is it was a very welcome, chill, relaxed place to eat that we found so comfortable we ended up deciding it was our “thing” to do when there’s nothing else going on and we just want to be out of the house. It was safe even at 1am because of the security guard present and the food & service were awesome. When we went to start our vehicle, the battery was dead. We’d used up all the juice while listening to music. We couldn’t find anyone with jumper cables until we asked an In n Out employee named Rain whom was ending her shift. She not only let us use her cables but backed her car to let us connect them to it. She did this AFTER her shift when she could’ve simply said no and been on her way. This is exemplary, and above and beyond great customer service. But more importantly, this shows what a great human Rain is. I spent 3 minutes w the young woman and she was a genuine sweetheart, friendly and with such a wonderful personality. She doesn’t know it yet because she did it with no intention other than to help a fellow human in need but she is due some great karma. I hope it finds her sooner rather than later. Not too sure what to say here. If you have been to an In-n-Out then you already know their limited menu, very affordable prices, and relatively quick service for the large number of customers they have at any one time. Burgers are fine, nothing really special, and the only option offered is with or without onions. Make sure you really want them if you say, "with," as mine usually come with copious onions. Fries are also quite generous, apparently measured with a shovel, and, for a fast food place, freshly cut, thin sliced, on site. There was one person who was just putting freshly peeled potatoes into the slicer, slicing, and dropping into the cookers. Well but not overly salted. I would think a great place for kids as the burgers are small enough for them to eat, and simple enough to not be "scary." I stop here regularly, even though the line of cars often goes through the lot, and still get served fairly quickly, fresh fries, and freshly...

❤️Stop here every other time I am leaving Merced after seeing my grandkids & family. I always walk in. It's 1 hr long drive at nite back to Oakdale. And I eat fries when I'm driving. I love how nice the staff always is & the wait is never more than 5 min, even though the drivethru is a whopping 25 cars long, Lol! The store has always been fairly clean, a real task as busy as they are every evening. The drink area is clean, fresh lemons always on ice, I get a cup of water & add a few lemon slices for flavor, complements of In & Out! I want to commend them, because I can go to any other fast food in Merced at nite & if the lobby is open, with the high traffic In & Out gets, those OTHER STOES ALWAYS have DIRTY drink machines w dirty service area. areas, & tables that need bussing. & the staff are not as friendly and welcoming as In & Out! One of the best & always a Triple A Fast Food...
