I am pretty disappointed with my overall experience with Axiom. I’ve been to all 4 locations and have regulared the village and meridian. The staff are fine- nothing noteworthy on the positive side, but no real issues. The facilities suck- especially at the village. Soap and paper towel dispensers constantly empty even during slow times of the day. Bathroom always smells gross. No major sense of cleanliness anywhere in the facility. The owners decided to call an audible on kids care hours immediately after I started my membership there, which was a bummer because I switched gyms to axiom specifically for the kids care. They removed the major hours I would utilize kids care but continued to charge the same price. I emailed corporate along w a few other parents to express our disappointment, but none of us received any response. Not even a “sorry for your disappointment.” Crickets.
I kept my membership going and bit the bullet on the adjusted hours and shifted my entire schedule to accomodate lift hours. Then fast forward to what I believe was less than a year later- Axiom rebranded to villa fitness, and along with that rebranding- increasing the costs of kids care by 60% under my already VIP membership. I understand adjustments for inflation, but I don’t see a 60% increase justified- especially when you don’t even send out any form of a notice to parents? I had to find out from an employee who didnt even know that there was an effective change and THEY WORKED THERE.
Ultimately, the money isn’t the main issue here. It’s the lack of accountability and communication that has led to poorly maintained facilities, and an apparent disregard for their members. It blows my mind that trainers can call me routinely to try extrapolate some more $$ through booking training sessions, however; I can’t get an email back or a letter in the mail to talk about pricing updates.
I’ve made the decision to switch gyms, and after this experience with my second go around at axiom/villa sports, I don’t think I’ll ever be back. Not even if your locker rooms stop smelling like a moldy sponge 🫠
UPDATE: The general manager from the Village location called and apologized for my experience within a business day of my review- which actually means a lot. Unfortunately, I have already committed to another gym that works better for my kids and our schedule. I would consider switching back in the future if management got a chokehold on the few challenges expressed- especially when it comes to kids care. As a single dad of two- that was really the...
Read moreNice facility...We have been there for a year. However there are things that took place and are disappointed. We needed to change our automated payment due date from the 29th of the month to the 1st of the month, If she was unable to do that, we would keep our two teens on the membership but remove ourselves due "long story" Im assuming we got a girl from the front desk. She let us know that this would require 60 days notice to remove my husband and I. Well in that case we would remove the entire family. If indeed we need 60 days notice then we were misled. Maybe we did not read the fine print. Live and learn. During the tour of Axiom at the village, we were told, "The great thing is it is month to month" He told us this after we made it clear we would not join a membership where we are under contract.......... She assured us that her manager would need to handle this as she did not have authorization. She also told us to just let it run through the bank and they would have just denied it. UUH! We had money that needed to go to food, gas, and bills. We had to prioritize! We explained If you had no money, you would receive a overcharge. We waited and waited hrs. & never heard a thing. When we toured the facility last year we didn't have that problem. In fact as annoying as it was, we were frequently called. Im sure had we been a new customer..our concerns would have been met and would have received a return call. ( Days prior CENTURY LINK deducted payment after making a payment agreement. I had even removed automated payment with them as a safety precaution because they have been incompetent in the past.I needed to cover myself.) I was not going to take this chance with AXIOM. Poor Customer Service: All Axiom had to do was return a call and work w us. We should of never been left guessing. In the meantime I had to cancel my debit. Need to go to a bank and have a new debit issued. I will have to change out other automated payments etc. What a pain! What seems to be so easy for some companies is not so easy for others. I really hate have automatic withdrawal anymore. We spent too much time on this and I wont forget. We would have been back to Axiom, mainly because they are really close, but i doubt it:( My only other complaint is on multiple occasions for days at a time. The sauna was down. i quit going months ago. My kids will be bummed as they do use it frequently, There are others! A...
Read moreDONT DO THE BODY ASSESSMENT UNLESS YOU WANT TO DO A FULL WORKOUT AND GIVE THE BEST EXPLANATION AS TO WHY YOU DONT WANT A PERSONAL TRAINER. Nutrishop will tell you your body fat and create a meal and workout plan if you buy supplements from them. It's simple. This will work for anyone who has the need for supplements.
The gym itself is nice. The people working are nice, but are obviously paid to be. When you sign up you get to do a Body Success Assessment w/certified personal trainer. Did my assessment last night.... From the beginning I told her that I had just finished my workout and all I cared about was my body fat percentage. She then tried to make go through a whole workout. I did some planks, but when we got to burpees I told her "not going to happen". Then she gave me a more detailed tour of the gym and helped me with some equipment I was curious about. Now about this time I am feeling light headed and weird because 1. I literally only got 4 hours of sleep the night before, and 2. I had done my workout and I did not have my protein and I NEEDED food. She told me I would meet with a trainer about nutrition and products they offer and i said "do I have to I really need to get home and eat" to which she said "yes". Ok fine.. I meet with the other guy and I tell him "I really just wanted to know my body fat. I need to get home and eat and get my protein". We talked about my goals and how he has helped ladies get in shape. I told him I did not want to pay for a personal trainer because there are other things I want more. he said "well you just have to decide what is more important: your health or THINGS".... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?! I was floored from this point on. It was difficult not to yell that the things more important than having a personal trainer was being able to afford all the sports I put my kids in. I eventually flat out told him "I am not going to pay for a personal trainer. Now I have to get home and eat" by this point I literally feel like I could fall over and pass out, and my eyes now lacked the ability to smile because I hadn't eaten much since lunch and it...
