I have always had a great experience at Boomer Nashua. I have been coming here regularly for the past ~10 years or so. I first went to their store when they were based out of Amherst St in Nashua. The new showroom is great!
For someone who is considering Boomer, I want to let you guys know that you can trust them. I have been able to get some really great deals from them. For example, you will not be able to get these prices for car audio equipment from anywhere else. I've always researched before and after buying something from them, just curiosity, and I always see a significantly reduced price for the same equipment.
I got this 5 channel used JL Audio amplifier from them least year, and even today if I look it up at eBay, the price is atleast $300 more there.
Like anyone who does a good job, they take their time to make sure that you get impeccable workmanship - everytime I have looked "into" their work, I have always found great quality in how things are put together. This does not mean that things are super expensive - the hourly rates are very reasonable. They have something for everybody, and never pressure you to buy something more expensive.
They will listen to you, and sometimes recommend a cheaper option if they feel that would suit what you want better. So, don't worry - there is no "car dealer" experience at Boomer. There have been times when I went for a more expensive option, because that is what I was looking for.
They are a bit like engineer scientists in their precision. If your ears are good, you will get exactly what you are looking/ hearing for. Every time they have installed a speaker or an amp or sound dampening for that matter, I could precisely make out the difference it made. And it was always an improvement. I like that precision where you never encounter a situation where you did not get what you were expecting, or you were not happy.
I like to tinker, and I have tried buying some exotic speakers or working with some non traditional dampening material - they are very happy to do the install every single time.
I also want to mention here, why you would want to spend more $$$ on an "expensive" but great Focal speakers or a good amp for your car. I also used to be the person who would upgrade to the cheapest upgrade from what I had before. The truth of the matter is that most things you can buy today become junk in a few years time. For example, I got a Sony TV + Monitor many years ago for $750. It costs less than $50 now. While the value of that $750 remains about the same today. You could buy a $1000 phone today which becomes almost worthless compared to its original price in a few years time like $250 or so. And most of the things we buy just increase our stress by making us work more, and fall in value over time.
Not so for a good pair of speakers or audio equipment. Speakers can last forever (although the cheaper amps can and do fail). I have a home theater system which is around 14 years old, and the speakers still work fine. I was able to sell some of my old speakers for a good percentage of the price I purchased them a few years ago - example, I got a mini home theater system for $350 a few years ago, and I later sold it for the same price after 4 years!!
So, clearly, they don't become junk after a few years and if you put it on sale online, and are not in a hurry, you could get a good price for them after a few years. If you change your car, Boomer is happy to take the old Focal system out and replace them in your brand new car, and these Focals will be a million times better than the speakers in your car. They make a great investment, keep their value somewhat (as compared to other things you can buy), reduce your stress, make your life easier.
This is why a few years ago, I stopped buying all the other junk, and let my company buy it for me (laptops, phones, etc). I spend my money only on music stuff. Boomer is a trustworthy & great partner. Take your time talking with them, to make sure you get exactly what you want. You will not be...
Read moreBoomer Nashua is top tier in their service, knowledge and installs. Don’t go anywhere else. I went looking for local mobile electronics/stereo installers near me in NH. Initials calls to the first place in Salem, NH went well, took my truck down to meet the guy and he had just left for the day. I called the next day, left a voicemail asking to schedule an appointment, no call back. Called place 2, initial call was great, scheduled time to meet, meeting was great. Asked for a quote on new led low beams, wiring adjustments, auxiliary lighting and a total stereo overhaul. Was told I’d have a quote by the next day. Next day came and went, and so did the week. Called at one week to check on the quote, this call wasn’t as inviting as the previous call/meet. Still to this day have not seen a quote. At this point I was frustrated and gave up. My wife did some searching online further out and told me to check out Boomer Nashua. Some quick online recon of Boomers showed me that this place seemed fully capable of handling my requests, but I was so deflated by all the terrible service I had seen, I really didn’t care at this point. Unbeknownst to me, my wife called Boomers and spoke with Cody, she explained my current situation to Cody and he immediately re-assured her that we would not have that experience with Boomer Nashua. After speaking with Cody, the owner of Boomer Nashua got on the line with my wife as well. Explained all of our options, price points, etc. and even had several quotes ready for us after 1 phone call. What a breath of relief. The passion you feel when talking with the guys at Boomer Nahua shows you just how much they care about what they do, and not only that, they are happy employees, which tells me the owner must be doing something great here. I called the owner myself at this point asked a few more detailed questions in which he had an answer to every single one…so knowledgeable in fact he would answer my question before I even asked them. I scheduled an appointment to come in for a week later. The owner met me right on time, gave my wife and I an entire tour of the facility, and let me tell you, seeing the shop here, you know you’ve come to the right place! We talked speakers, amps, subwoofers, head units music and lighting. I got 4 more new quotes on the spot after the owner had us listen to all the products there (and after hearing the owners current setup…..WOW). We had all the info we could need, all the pricing broken down, you name it. Solid. I ended choosing top tier products for every piece we were installing. New 10” Kenwood floating screen head unit, with EQ’s and audio settings that will blow any non-general listeners mind, connected to 6 Focal speakers powered by a 400 watt Kenwood amp and a 10” JL Audio subwoofer in a stealth box underneath the rear seat powered by a 1000 watt Kenwood amp. Two new Led low beams, and had asked if they'd upgrade by parking lamps/turn signals to LEDs at the last minute. Install was scheduled for less than 2 weeks out! I dropped my truck off the night before my install date and picked it up on day 2! When I picked up my truck the owner stood out in 15 degree, windy weather, for almost an hour, and he went over every single thing with me, from setting up my phone, to equalizer settings, and even letting me know where the danger zones/limitations are with my new system. They surprised me with some really awesome parking lamp/turn signal lights that I didn’t expect, new switchback LED’s. They really spice up the look of the truck! The install was super clean, no scuff or scratches anywhere in my truck and my new system is absolutely incredible. The system was so tastefully designed, just about every style of music sounds incredible and LOUD, but crystal clear at max volume and the subwoofer is loud and smooth. No distortion whatsoever. I am re-discovering all the music I’ve listened to for 35 years and am absolutely excited for every song coming up. I could sit in my truck for hours just listening to music, Boomer Nashua...
Read moreI brought my 07 Lexus to Boomer's and explained my speaker issues at length. I told Jamie, the owner, how the subwoofer would go in and out if I hit a bump in the road and the door speaker worked sporadically and made crackling noises. He immediately diagnosed the problem as blown speakers and recommended 2 new speakers. I asked how speakers get blown, since this is the 3rd car I've owned and first time experiencing these problems. He said the subwoofer wears from sun exposure and since that was blown, sound was forced out of the other speakers, blowing one of them too. He purchased specific Mark Levinson speakers; I paid $663 for parts and labor. Techs. replaced my speakers and didn't provide an alternative explanation to the cause, I assumed Jamie's diagnosis of wear and tear on the subwoofer, and forcing sound out of the front speaker as compensation, was correct. A week later I heard crackling noises coming from both speakers and the subwoofer started to go in and out. I brought the car back and Jamie said that my new speakers were completely blown. He asked me if I blasted music in my car, I said no, my habits haven't changed in the 4 years I've owned the car. He told me although they tested the amp. for an hour and found no issues, I should replace the amp. He said he would email the company he got the speakers from to see if they'd do a package of speakers and an amplifier and he'd call me within 24 hours. 7 days later and I hadn't heard from him. Today, 4/19/17, I took my car to Lexus in Manchester, NH for a recall. While there, I explained the situation and a tech. looked at my speakers and said while the amp. looked fine, he saw mouse droppings by it. He suggested that a wire was chewed, given the symptoms of the subwoofer being intermittent, but couldn't confirm for sure without taking the interior apart. I called Boomer's and spoke to Jamie. He said "you got my voicemail?" and I said no. I've received multiple appointment confirmation calls from Boomer's so I know the phone number they have for me is correct. I said I want to come to a compromise on the issues I've been having. I said I understood that he's a small business owner and I'm willing to work with him to find middle ground. Jamie told me he did the best he could and "hindsight was 20/20," he was not going to be giving me any refund. He said "that is a risk I am not willing to take" when it came to giving warrantees/refunding customers and that's why he's still in business. He told me conflicting reasons why my speakers weren't working. First there's "DC sound" coming from my amp. and the second set of blown speakers showed that. He said replacing my amp. may solve the problem, but he didn't know. He said the speakers he purchased for me were from EBay, unbeknownst to me, and he wouldn't stand behind the quality and said I should've bought them myself. When I asked him why he didn't tell me that my amp. was the root cause of them problem when I first brought my car to him for diagnostics, he said "I am not responsible for finding wiring problems. That's like going to your doctor for knee surgery and when he finds cancer in your elbow, having the cancer fixed for free." When I first brought my car in for diagnostics, techs. should've been able to tell from the way that they were blown that it was a result of "DC sound" coming my amps., like he claims he could see with the second set of speakers. If they saw mouse droppings by the amp., they should've made me aware of that, as that may indicate a wiring problem.
When I tried to tell him that, as a consumer, I'm left at square one and spent almost $700 with him, he said "you spent $145 in labor and I didn't make any profit from you, I don't care." He then hung up on me. He called me back 30 seconds later to say, in a sarcastic tone, "I'm sorry I dropped the phone and it hung up on you." I told him I felt the conversation was exceedingly unprofessional and that...
