Choice Fitness Methuen East — Attraction in Methuen

I really was impressed by the professionalism of the personal trainers. They are educated and experienced but also very empathetic. I was so embarrassed in the beginning but there was a therapeutic feeling after meeting for the first time with Rich the manager of the personal trainers. He actively listened to my concerns but also was honest in his feedback. He took the time to review his staff and selected a trainer for me based off of many factors. I worked with Steve. He was amazing . He asked questions about any injuries and what I did for work, what my energy level was, what my own goals were and he was realistic and had such a pleasant personality. He took the time to answer my questions, offered ideas, and reviewed my nutrition. Both Rich and Steve were available off hours to guide me and motivate me. I felt so at peace and excited to work out again. They gave me so much more than tips on machines, they helped rebuild my mentality, confidence, and ethic to be healthy. I AM REALLY happy I met them and learned from these 2 intelligent and charismatic men. I really recommend them and their branch in East Methuen. They truly helped me jumpstart my next chapter and I can't tell you enough how much I respect them. My boyfriend has been going to Choice Fitness in Methuen for a few years. I have been trying to go to the gym with him at two of the Choice Fitness locations with him for the past two years (We do not live together). First they would not let me come in because I am not a member, which is fine, so I paid $10 every time. Since we started so spend $10 every time we went, he decided to upgrade to a gold membership which lets a member bring a guest for fee. (Remind you, he is paying in order to bring a guest.) We tried to go again, and they would not let me go with him. The reason behind this? Because I live in Newburyport, MA, and I live "too far away" for him to bring a guest. This makes no sense. I only get to see him once or twice a week, whereas friends who live near Methuen could be buddying up and cheating the system. I have respect for rules and regulations and paying correct fees, but Choice Fitness is just trying to get the most money they can get out of people. Our friends, who just got married, are experiencing the same thing. Choice Fitness will not let his wife come to the gym with him because her ID does not have the same address as him yet. The people who work there are not accommodating at all, and I have heard a lot of complaints from the other people who work out there. I have told more than a few people not to join...

The place was great when I first joined about 3.5 years ago. I was just out of college and didnt have much money to my name so this was literally perfect. I had the silver membership. Then my girlfriend wanted to start coming to the gym with me so i upgraded to a gold membership and it was working out perfectly. Then choice fitness came under new management and it went to hell.. They made a map that limited who you could bring. This map only allowed guests to come if they lived in a ~10 mile radius... My girlfriend didnt make the cut.
