Lois Lane Statue — Attraction in Metropolis

Small town, rural Illinois. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. Except this one thinks that everything has to be "Super" based. DC, Marvel; universe doesn't seem to matter. Someone in City Council should really attend a Comic Con to understand how seriously people take this stuff and how much money they will spend if it is done correctly! The statue is well done, as is the base and wall that surround it. We weren't there during one of the main events though and the town looks like it is in desperate need of a visit from a design team like Yard Crashers! This town has the potential to bring in much more tourist money if it will invest in making itself more appealing. There is already a rest stop bringing people off of the interstate, the casino is also a draw. Give them a reason to come downtown, make it a pleasant place to spend a few hours, which will give them a reason to spend more money! As it was, we saw the statues, took our pictures, stopped in the museum for a few minutes, and left without spending more that $10. There are one or two boutique-style shops that actually have a grasp of marketing. Perhaps others in the town will ask...

Drove down to visit the Lois Lane statue all the way from Chicago. Arrived with my cockpit and a camera to shoot various Superman themed landmarks around Metropolis. The Lois Lane statue has meaning in my family because my mother’s name is Lois. When she was younger she used to collect Superman comics to read about Lois Lane. A must-see for Superman fans! The Lois Lane statue is a fun photo stop, and the surrounding display adds to the charm. A geocache (adventure lab) led me here, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures. Definitely worth a quick visit if you’re nearby.
