Bittermans BBQ, finally opened in West Babylon. After over 2 years of coming soon sign hanging in the window the day has arrived. Bittermans was worth the wait. Great knowledgeable staff with traditional BBQ food. The menu is small but the food is on point. I had the St. Louis Royal rib combo, with Corn on the cob. The owner was nice enough to let me try the wings and roasted potatoes as well. The wings are charred and delicious. I used the mild sauce which was amazing, not too sweet. The corn was tender and tasty. I tried the roasted potatoes and ended up eating everyone of them. Now let's talk ribs. These are a dry rub but you have a choice to add the sauce both mild or hot. I had the mild I used for dipping because the ribs were so tasty it didn't need sauce. The meat slightly pulled off the bone and reminded me of down south BBQ. We are so lucky to have a place like Hitterman's in our community. I remember going there with my father when I was quite young. I have been shopping there for years now and always try to find what I need there instead of going to one of the "big box" stores. They have an amazing stock of tools, hardware, plumbing, and electrical supplies, and are starting to stock a bit of lumber now, too. They also have some fencing supplies and a few automotive things. The staff is local, knowledgeable, and friendly, and can always be counted on for good advice. Every time I go I discover something else -- last time I was there I discovered furnace filters, so no need to go to one of the big stores for those, either. Because they have been in business so long they can supply parts for older items, such as plumbing fittings. 5+ stars, for sure! UPDATE: Now under new management and as good as ever. They had what I needed and I didn't have to drive to Paducah! Update 7/28/22.... went in today and picked up a ice maker install kit. They were very knowledgeable and got me exactly what I needed super fast. It was only 10.99 and the biggest thing....I DIDNT HAVE TO DRIVE...
