Art Gardens Hostel — Attraction in Miami

I would recommend this place for airport layovers or poor business travelers, but not for younger leasure travelers or backpacker types. Every guest I saw was a middle aged man that seemingly went to work in the morning. The room was very hot at night, about 80f/26c, way too hot to sleep comfortably. The other guests in the room were disrespectful turning on the lights after quiet time and playing videos with volume on their phones. Not the fault of the hostel, but be prepared to either deal with it or report them to the staff. There is one bathroom with a shower, but the rest of the showers are in an open hallway so its only a frosted shower door for privacy. Kitchen is well stocked in a nice covered outside area with plenty of fridge space. They have a no alcohol policy, which seemed odd for a hostel. Located in a charming but slightly dangerous residential neighborhood which could be uncomfortable if you are not used to it. Walking distance to the metro station and the Wynwood area, but typical American roads with barely marked crosswalks and sidewalks that can end at any time. My flight was canceled due to a snowstorm, and I was forced to cancel my booking for reasons beyond my control. Despite this, the hostel refused to refund my money (300 CAD), did not reschedule my stay, and did not offer even a partial refund. On top of that, they ignored all my messages as well as those from Booking.com. I consider this theft, as they do not offer a refundable booking option, leaving me no choice but to take the risk in order to stay there. Great little hostel! The decorum gives a nice, cozy vibe and the room I stayed in was consistently kept neat and clean. Geographically, it's in a good spot as you're not that far from the airport, major highways, or public transit. Only took me about twenty-two minutes to get to South Beach from here. :) It's in a neighborhood so I like the fact that you kinda get more of a local experience than if you were to stay in a hotel or condo.
