I lived on Sandy Hook from the time I was 9 years old until I was 13. It was the best place to live. What's not to love?? 2 blocks from the beach, cool buildings to explore, which brought the added excitement of trying not to get caught inside. The Coast Guard station used to host cheap screenings of movies on the weekends and there were a lot of other Park Service and "Coastie" kids to play with. On hot, muggy summer nights my dad used to take us through Battery Potter just to do a "security check".
