Gunnison Beach — Attraction in Middletown Township

Gunnison Beach is one of the many beaches at Sandyhook. Sandyhook is Federal Property. During Season. May thru Aug you have to only pay to enter your car from 8am to 6pm. Free outside of that. It is a LONNNNG walk from the parking lot to the beach. All facilities are near the parking lot soooo plan ahead. I'd guess a bit more than a half mile walk. Two fun facts. 1. Really great vibe with open minded people. Met some cool and nice people here and for those of you iffy about the nude part: you don’t need to be nude and if you are nobody is judging. I, as a young woman, felt very comfortable here and all the men were very respectful and there was no leering. I also saw no children which is a plus. They’re a volleyball net too which was so much fun. The sunset is very visible and pretty on clear days. At night you can see NYC lights in the distance. Quiet clothing optional beach. Always sheriff's officer on beach. Alcohol is permitted (no glass). Carry in/Carry out. No trash cans or dumpsters on beach. Paid access. $15.00 day/$75.00 for the 2019 season. Free if you arrive before 7:00 am. Long walk from parking lot to beach, be mindful of how much you pack unless you have a cart that can easily handle the sand. Make sure to stop a the rest room located between the parking and the beach or be prepared for a long walk back.
