Coco Professional African Hair Braiding — Attraction in Milwaukee

Ok, Have a seat because it is STORY time. Please DO NOT go here, Save your money and time because Coco will not only play in your face but she will play in your head as well. I texted her on a Monday night asking if she can do my hair on the upcoming Sunday, she confirmed that Sunday at 8am will be fine… I get to the shop around 7:45 and she tells me that I don’t have an appointment, like I really woke up early that morning just to come and sit in her face or something ( be for real 😒 ) I then proceeded to show her our text messages and she acts confused as if she doesn’t recall making the appointment, She then starts to do a girls appointment who came in shortly after I’d arrived. She had told me that my appointment would cost 300.00 for a retwist and to add about 13 loc extensions, I obliged because it was in my price range. She begged me to come back at a later time literally ( ran outside gave me a hug , apologized, and begged me to come back ) because she said she didn’t put my appointment in her little pink book and I texted her when she was “half sleep “🙄 she literally came outside gave me a hug and apologized for not doing my hair on time, she then proceeded to say she would give me a 50.00 discount for wasting my time. That would have brought the price from 300.00 to 250.. a few hours later I come back and she is now ready to do my hair. She then proceeded to say she”ll do it for 400.00 like lady are you cool 👀👀 ?? How did you go from 300 to 250 to now 400, She’s super unprofessional and is MONEY hungry. She ultimately took the 250 she promised she would take gave me a simple retwist and only gave me 4 freakin extensions because she didn’t have exactly what was needed .. Like why take my money if you don’t have all of the materials . She should not be running a business , I give her another chance to correct her mistakes and offer to buy the extensions myself .. I buy the extensions and go back to her to have her finish my hair and she basically lied and told me that she will call me when she’s ready to finish but NEVER finished nor called and gave me a apology. I paid 200 for a retwist and 50 for 4 extensions. I will never sit in her seat again. This woman is not to be trusted she will play with you and your money . Take my advise and PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE, Take heed to the reviews because they do not lie. She talks about you to the other women who work in the shop alongside her in their language and talk smack about you while you’re sitting there. She has no respect for you or your hard working money that you pay her. I usually don’t sit and write reviews unless it’s something that needs to be addressed. And don’t get it twisted, As I’m posting this review here I will also be sharing this information with the B.B.B (Better business bureau) This shop doesn’t even deserve 1 star… Please ladies do your research and find a better Nigerian African shop to go to because this woman...

Pros:

Did a great job on my braids, accommodated 7am time and an appointment within 24 hours & braids very relatively quickly.

Cons:

My 1st braid appointment - none. The lady who braided my hair was gentle and finished my hair within 3 hours.

2nd visit: I requested the same lady, who the owner said was available, but when I arrived it was a different lady. I told her the size of the braids that I wanted (same as last time, slightly larger.) and she asked me what I was charged. The owner than got on the phone and told me, no that’s not possible and she is not sure why the lady charged me that lower price last time 🙄 . I admit, I made the mistake of not blow drying my natural hair before this appointment ( like I did for the 1st appt), but it was detangled and moisturized. The lady was rough with my hair and made rude comments about the [natural texture] while I was paying her for a service to braid my hair. She also braided way too tight. I asked her in the beginning if she could braid the larger size I wanted in 3 hours like the lady I requested, because I had an appt to go to. She said yes. She than made the braids smaller and took longer.

I went about 3-4 months apart and the owner was VERY late for her appts both times.

Moral of the story: you will get good braids, blow dry/straighten your hair before you go, depending on who you get, which seems to be luck of the draw will either be unproblematic or rough and a little rude, they may change the price on you last minute and not give you the exact braids you ask for but your braids will be nice and done relatively...

Customer service wasn't bad at all. While I understand that you wont get 100 percent of a picture of someone else's work (because let's be real it's somebody else's) I was expected to walk out the door with a 8-10 inch ponytail which is not what I asked for. And I had to say something because it wasn't to satisfaction. I asked her not to dip my hair again and she insisted. I know that hot water is to seal but if you have already burned where the braids need sealing and I ask kindly not to dip my hair then that's what I want. The hair shrinks when it's dipped as well. I also was overly charged for my hair. I was told 100 dollars and paid 130. And I didnt even complain about the price for what I got. Plus because they speak other native language they lied about who Coco was. I wanted coco to do my hair. Did she? No. I believe I won't...
