OMG… the stylists were nice and all, but every single one of them is VERY heavy on the hands. My visit was a total of 3.5 hours with most of that time spent waiting. And what I saw and experienced was absolutely horrendous: No one is detangling the hair at the shampoo bowl like they’re supposed to. They’re not even making sure the hair is slightly detangled before shampooing. Either of which is not good for the girls with coarse hair. Then when they actually do detangle, they’re pulling so much hair out!!!! They’re starting from the root of the hair to the ends instead of vice versa. I saw so many girls sitting uncomfortably in their chairs because those stylists were literally pulling their hair out. It was ridiculous. The restroom is so worn down and dirty and no one is maintaining it throughout the day. The tissue-cover is broken with the tissue exposed, the faucet handles are dirty, and it’s not clear whether the hand soap is anti-bacterial or not; which would be ideal for the safety of everyone that uses it. The stylists are using the same combs on each customer and there is no barbicide or disinfectant anywhere in sight. They also aren’t disinfecting the chairs and shampoo bowls after each customer like they’re supposed to. I could go on and on about it but I think I’ve said enough. Martha makes entirely too much money off of these stylists to have the salon in the condition it’s in. No one is taking the time to actually care for the hair, they’re just trying to get girls in their chairs and get them out just as fast. If you care about your hair and overall safety, I wouldn’t patronize this salon. I will...

I was looking for a new stylist something different from my old stylist which I had been going to for years what a horrible mistake I am devastated and depressed about the loss of my hair my hair was down my back I always had long hair since a child I had kenisha don't know if that's the correct spelling relax and color my hair. Had been getting relaxers since teenager. She wanted not to relax my hair and do it the way she wanted to do my hair. Explained to her my hair was course and I had been getting my hair relaxed for years. With the last relaxer she put in my hair my hair started coming out in handful like a horror movie. Don't know if my hair was over processed or relaxer not washed out completely seems like it was done on purpose devastated. I decided not to go back which was a big mistake. I eventually called Martha. She offered free treatment in which don't make up for the lost of my hair. She recommended extensions which was an insult to injury. I never in my life had to wear extensions my hair was already long. People used to ask is that your real hair yes that's my real hair not anymore I don't have anymore hair now people ask what happened to your hair. Everyone knows a woman hair is her pride and joy and when your hair looks good you feel good. Back in the day when a woman named Cythia worked at Martha's, it was a place of high value. My last experience was horrible. I asked for a natural shape up. I came washed. The woman I was told to go to name is Teresa. She has very short hair and very petite. She cut my hair, had her daughter rewash my hair, threw me under the dryer, and just began to cut more off claiming it was very damaged. The back was cut super short & the top left long & sides left long. I'm not sure what shape she was going for, but I did show her pictures. She said I should've went to a barbershop for what I asked for, but chose to cut my hair anyways after stating that her wrist were too bad to do a rod set or braids. She charge me $150 to wash, & cut my hair so uneven. $150?! I will not being going back to Martha's ever again. Martha is always booked cause I would've chosen her to do my hair. I'm now looking for a real barber/salon to fix all that Teresa messed up. I do not recommend going here for natural cuts or barbering EVER.
