Came from Minneapolis to visit family for Thanksgiving. Love to try coffee shops when I travel. This place looked so intriguing when I first drove by on Thanksgiving Day, that I went back the next morning when they were open, even tho it was out of my way.
There was no one at the counter when I walked in. I said a cheerful "Good Morning" to the gentleman working. He looked directly at me and said "How about morning". I smiled, caught his vibe and toned it down. However, I think that set him off to not want to engage at all because I then gave him my order of an "Americano with lots of room for cream". His response was "how much room, because at some point it becomes a latte".... it came out with a definite grumpy tone. Okaaaay. I have ordered my coffee like that for 20 years and no one has ever said that. He basically ignored me that rest of the time, served my coffee on the counter, then turned and walked away to the back of the prep area without a word.
Tried my Americano and it was okay, nothing to write home about. Bit weak, definitely did not taste like fresh pulled espresso. But I was looking (at the very eclectic) sitting area so I didn't watch him make it. So I digress, can't say how he made it.
Also, I did not get a bakery item even tho I wanted to. They were currently being melted in the sunlight and they did not look appetizing. Bad placement.
Loved the vibe of the place with the retro sitting area, vinyl record collection, plants. In an old gas station.... very cool.
And maybe he was having a bad morning and my smile made it worse. But, that's his problem... don't make it contagious. And I'm a great tipper, I likely would have given a $5 spot on a Holiday weekend, but it was not deserved.
So I went to Rocket Baby the next day and had a great...

Went here early May. Was looking for a cup of Joe. Went down to Mlwke to see a friend and got turned around. It was raining pretty good.
Found this place. Highly recommended. Workers/staff are great. Prices are reasonable. They can make some great drinks and know what they are doing. They have some nice tasty treats. They have games, tv- books. Great place to go inside and chill. Plenty of parking outside, place inside is very clean- bathrooms are clean.
Check them out if in the area. Good place and highly recommended!
Until the next review...
Read moreHad to meet my sister at Sherman Perk Friday morning. Parking lot is very small with some parked "creatively". I was in the ER the night before & am still suffering from severe headaches & dizziness. My husband was trying to help get me & my walker in, so was holding the door. Craig (barista) was yelling at him, YELLING, to close the door. This is an unacceptable way to treat any customers, and certainly not any with any physical issues. Wi turned around & left. We won't be back unless our friends group happens...
