It was a sweet little spot that we found unexpectedly. Totally hidden away behind golf course so not in public view for most part. But it had a lot of open space to run. Walking paths. Big trees. Very "green". Huge parking area. We went here at dusk so it was empty extremely quiet and lots and lots of flies mosquitoes. Tricked kids into nature walk by playing and finding pokemon but blew up in my face, after bugs destroyed us. Bugs flying into our mouth hovering around bats and mosquitos everywhere. Kids saw first fireflies on good note. Play area was decent size. One for smaller kids. Other for all ages. Dirty equipment. Definitely needs to be hosed off once a month. Or garbage cleaned off equipment at least. Garbage scattered all over playground. Not on grass just playground which made me think the grounds people who cut grass maybe tossed aside onto playground to finish. Obviously sounds unlikely but looked odd. Lots of open space picnic tables and benches scattered far apart and did not see bathrooms or even knew where shelter...
Read moreA lovely park with a lot to offer. On the south side of the park there is a nice public archery range, off leash dog park, and golf learning center with driving range to accompany the larger golf course within the park. From the north side there is a spacious picnic area with a variety of activity spaces from a large playground, swings, a full size football field with bleachers, a sand area that can be equipped with a volleyball net, several grills, and numerous built in cement picnic benches for a variety of group sizes. The tennis area is in rough shape, and I’m not sure if it is still maintained with the intent to play tennis. There are two separate parking areas for the picnic area, another by the driving range and dog park, and about three parking spaces near the archery range. There are great, well-marked, walking and biking trails around the park, as well as a great view of the Minneapolis skyline from the...
Read moreIt was chasing the deer. Back in beyond the wooded dog park side. Across from the driving range- in between the dog park & the archery range. The Buck came-out through the archery range, jus as I was just pulling out of the inlet; it was literally 5 feet in front of my car's hood! It headed across the parkway, parallel to Central Ave & into the Colombia Golf course. While the Big Wolf chased the other (maybe female) deer– down the back trail there (beyond the archery range) adjacent to the rail road tracks. Going in the opposite direction of the buck. My guess is as I write this,, she's...
