Jasmine Thai — Restaurant in Columbia Heights

I've been wanting to comment on my horrible experience here from Oct. of 2017. Since then I have never visited this place again. I went there with some relatives from out of state. We had called ahead to let them know how big our party would be and to make reservations. When we got there we were seated in the far back and then no one ever came to wait on us. We waited an hour and then flagged down a waiter to get water for our table. After getting our water the waiter quickly left and never checked in on us until my wife flagged down a waiter 30 mins late. By then our relatives seemed annoyed. After we flagged down a waiter to take our order, they had none of the drinks we wanted available, offered no other accommodations and once we got our food, they barely checked in on us. Once we were done eating my wife asked for to go boxes from the waiter. The waiter never came back, no apologies. My wife had to go up and ask for the to go boxes again in which she ended up grabbing them herself and these people still had the audacity to charge us for gratuity. They never once apologized or tried to make up for their poor service and then still charged us for gratuity. We spent over $200 for poor service and mediocre Thai food. There are far more better and authentic Thai food out there. I will never come to this...

Service! Wait, what service? The food is actually pretty good, but the service totally kills it for me. If I was only rating for food 4 stars, but I'm not…

Decided to grab some lunch today, seemed pretty slow when I got there. No greeting at the door or acknowledgement that someone had entered the establishment, no sign to wait or seat yourself. So I grabbed a menu and continued to stand there for a few minutes, still nothing. Finally went to the bar to order takeout, still nothing. Server eventually came by and I ordered something I wasn't sure I could pronounce correctly so I pointed and said, "this one w/ beef" and I got some spring rolls too. Server seemed to care less about my order. I was ordering from the lunch menu which does have special pricing for lunch time. When the food was ready the server calculated my total and it was much higher than I expected. I said, "that seems expensive, didn't I order off the lunch menu?" and the server said, "yeah but you didn't SAY lunch…" AMAZING.

Anyway, I've been here a few times, the food is always good, but the service is almost never. Unfortunately the staffs lackadaisical approach has now made me desire to never return here and I will recommend against other people going as well.

Went to Jasmine Thai about 7 pm last night to order takeout. The kitchen and staff all appeared to be very busy, and host informed me it would be about 45 minutes on the food (it's usually only a 10-15 minute wait). I had never ordered curry before, so I asked the host if I should get red or green. He recommended green, so I went with that. I also ordered fresh spring rolls with shrimp, and chicken satay. After a 15 minute drive home, settling and unpacking: all the hot food was still hot, and the fresh spring rolls still cool. The chicken satay was great - especially with the house made sauce that comes with the skewers - but the real winners here were the fresh spring rolls and the curry. HOLY SMOKES they were both amazing! The spring rolls were just perfect (taste, texture, aroma), and having never ordered curry before, I was blown away. My friend enjoyed the meal with me. She has lived in Thailand for three years. She gives everything we ordered her stamp of approval. Moreover, there was enough food to fill both our stomachs. A good full.

I will definitely be back to Jasmine Thai, and I'm super excited to try the other curries! My normal go to is Drunken Noodle with Shrimp - Thai hot (love it,...
