I came here on the recommendation of a friend and was particularly looking forward to the dumplings. They were OK - I got the beef ones and the filling was on the dry side.
The only sauces they have are a red pepper sauce that comes with the dish and some soy sauce packets you can grab. I am a true mid-western; I can't handle much spice much to my chagrin, so I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any low- or non-spicy sauce other than simply soy sauce.
I didn't try the pastries, but they do look delicious.
I also got a chia tea which was fantastic. I'm an avid chia tea lover and it's my go to drink where ever I go. They definitely have the chia spices mixed in but it still had some sweetness to it. Five stars to the drink alone. If the parking wasn't so bad here, I would be willing to come back just for that. The being said, this place was fun to check out, but it would not be worth the effort or money on my part to do so.
The atmosphere is calming and they have a good set up inside. I love the antiques and paintings to look at. Thier wall of memory is also intriguing. The staff are very friendly and nice.
It is hard to get seating (I ended up sitting at one of the larger tables with three other individuals) - bear in mind, this is during a time google says they aren't super busy so I'd be scared to see what "busy" looks like; this place is packed.
The prices are also quite affordable.
So, in all...
Cons are parking, the momos (which everyone else seems to enjoy so I may just be an outlier), and the lack of seating for the amount of clientele.
Pros are the drinks, pastries (?),...
Read moreMomo is a really cute coffee house/cafe in Northeast Minneapolis. I was there mid-afternoon, and it was packed. There were, however, still plenty of places to sit
They have the usual assortment of drinks, plus they have some rather interesting ones. My friend had the maple orange latte! She said is was delicious!
I had a chai, and it is house-made. It was not overly sweet, which is nice, and they served it in a lovely ceramic mug. I thought it had a bit too much cinnamon on the top, but it was pretty! They serve Bogart's doughnuts and Rustica pastries. Plus they have hot food including momos - which is a Tibetan dumpling. Having been to Tibet, I need to go back and try them.
My friend had a gluten-free scone, which had fruit filling. She said it was great. I am not a big fan of Bogart's doughnuts, but it was fresh and tasty nonetheless.
The furniture is cozy, and the tables are wooden and large. They also have outdoor tables.
I heartily recommend this lovely place. It is nice to go to a place with a lot of character and...
Read moreI had to stop by once I knew one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities was opening a coffee shop. Momo Cafe does not disappoint. There's a good variety of drinks (including the 🔥🔥🔥 Iron Goddess of Mercy oolong) and they have doughnuts from Bogart's. Plus, they have Momos as well, either meat, veg, or mixed. I went with the pistachio rose latte with oat milk. It's not usually my sort of thing, but it was delicious. A really nice balance with the pistachio and rose (rose is easy to go too heavy on).
The interior is really cute! There's a Polaroid camera immediately upon entering and customers have already snapped pics and put them up in celebration. There is Tibetan artwork all over and a good selection of books that I assume one can read.
Momo RUNS Central Ave...now you can have glorious Momo morning, noon, and night! Sonam and his family are stellar people too, get out and support the heck...
