Went to vote and had some questions for the Library (a new card, items they carry for borrow, simple questions that wouldn't have taken even 2 minutes)
Instead they had their doors unlocked and immediately demanded I leave and then stated they weren't open yet. I told the security guard I didn't realize, I just had a couple questions and that I hadn't been inside before. I was abruptly cut off and "Questions" so she could tell me again they weren't open yet and I would need to leave.
At that point the librarian started talking too and all I could hear was leave. So I did, clearly understanding that they can stand there and do nothing, but to answer a few questions to someone living in the neighborhood to encourage them to return is most certainly not why they're there.
If you don't want people to come in, then lock the doors. If you don't have time for people then why are you working in public service positions. I would have never turned someone away who just had questions, they didn't even take the time to hear me, just to remove me from potentially being inconvenient to their standing there chatting...

The activities I think is lacking are crafts, b ball, field trips, fundraisers, outside exploring, reading, and games where the kids can win prizes, or books. Reading time for teens and kids for all age groups. I'll come and read. I'll even help the kids who are skipping school. Bike trail events. Take a book and read post the kids up who read the most. Read moreI recently started using this library again after many years of using the Brookdale library. I grew up using this library and love the kids area. They have a ping pong table which I was skeptical of at first but the space has a very nice vibe. The adult area is upstairs and has a great selection to choose from in every topic for a smaller collection. I order books from other libraries and the hours have been great for pick up. There are food bags and personal items near the book return for people in need which...
