I’ve been going to this park for over a month with my emotional support animal and my family. We would play tennis and walk the trail. Then one day I show up to continue my usual activities and was approached by a police officer with a picture in hand of the back of a black woman walking a dog. This photo also seemed to be sent to his phone personally since he didn’t say how he received the photo. He assumed that it was me but there was no face in the photo. He could not verify it was me so I feel like this was a case of mistaken identity. This photo seemed to be taken from someone sitting in their car. I personally felt targeted and singled out. I never noticed any sign stating it wasn’t pet friendly since I’ve seen other people out there with their dogs previously. I respected the officer and left because I didn’t have my emotional support animal letter with me at the time.
However, I feel as though the person that was sitting in their car could have approached me and simply told me that pets weren’t allowed, since I didn’t know. I feel as though there was no need to get the police involved in such a matter with a dog.
Overall I felt spied on and targeted for being a black woman at a park with her emotional support animal that helps with my anxiety. This is the only park in my neighborhood that felt comfortable attending but that was ruined by a patron of the community. Something needs to be done...
Read moreI’ve been coming there to get away from my parents since my time at Sea Castle Elementary. #the1990s People love exercising there. Buddy up, especially at night, if you can. I love nature. The water is toxic, so don’t eat the fish from the waters there- A tip from someone tipped by somebody “working on it.” I’ve seen better water fountains; the ones they have need non budgetary updates. You Know; you are more likely to see a local gator at a local canal, then at the lake there. Did they take them all away? Those duckies remind me of squirtle. I love watching birds, squirrels, snd turtles. Doggies remind me of onyx. 90s jokes, so take a chill pill. I never trusted iguanas, and I never will. So many now! Their...
Read moreProbably one of the only decent parks in Pembroke/Hollywood that isn’t just playground surrounded by dirt and patchy grass.
At least it has water and ducks and the occasional iguana, as well as some shaded space.
However, I don’t understand why Floridians with their God-forsaken humidity and hot weather insist on building walking ways with no shade.
Whomst among us is going to go for a “leisurely stroll” on hot humid asphalt in June?
Plant more trees, plant more flowers, park needs more of everything. A lawn is a stretch of empty grass, a lawn isn’t a park. If a lawn was a park we’d all be sitting in front of our houses having...
