Laing Park — Attraction in Mishawaka

Great seclusion! Many fish or explore here! No picnic tables out end of April month! DNR also monitors at this park! Seen DNR arrested a highly cooperative man- (Turns out to be a court ordered no contact invasion of privacy charge)- assuming his gf the victim of a pending domestic case ,,,McDonald’s wifi available (if one has a a spare android device connect to McDonald’s wifi, then turn on hotspot, this extends range of 300 feet, covering the creek side even on the meander) - sorry iPhone users, ur iPhones incapable of extending wifi range! - I’ve camped here two nights (April) no enforcement of leaving, and seen people come out here all hours of night to fish! I only noticed one aluminum beer bottle! No trash cans anywhere but nearby McDonald’s! Has trash can 50 feet from parking lot! This area is 750 yards downstream from the Twin Branch Dam on the St Joseph River. Rated very good for Steelhead year-round and noted for the King and Coho Fall Salmon runs. Food, lodging nearby, Laing Park has been renamed Frank Zappia Steelhead Fishing Park. While the park is equipped with portable facilities, fishing at the Twin Branch Dam site has permanent washroom facilities and a 120 yard sidewalk equipped with safety railing and pole holders making the area safe for entire family.
