Just like any new change, attending Rasmussen Mokena, IL had my anxiety on high. I did not know what to expect going into the ADN program. I had heard some good things about the school and some not so good. I am truly glad that I am not a person that is influenced by what others tell me or what they think. I have had an amazing journey at Rasmussen Mokena. All the professors that I have learned under have been wonderful, they are dedicated in helping you to achieve your goals, you just have to apply your knowledge to the material presented (it is a lot) but it is doable. You have to put in the hard work and study time.
Rasmussen Mokena has excellent tutors that are there to assist in any of the courses that you may need help with. I was apprehensive at first in taking advantage of the tutoring program. I think that made me feel embarrassed, needing a tutor, in my thought process meant I was a failure. That was far from the case. They are there to help you understand problems that may take someone else explaining it to you to make sense. I began scheduling time with them just to assure that I was on the right track and stayed there.
Everyone that I had come in contact with have been very supportive in my time at the school. From those that ask you "how may I help you, when you call, to Financial Aid. You may not be able to speak to anyone in financial aid right away, but they will follow through and call you back. Once you get to speak with someone, they are going to make sure that before they finish the call with you, all questions have been resolved or they are in the process of resolving them for you.
The Dean at our campus is so cool (if that's alright to say). I can recall stopping on campus to pick up some items and I held a conversation with this lady, while waiting that I did not know. Just from our conversation, one would have thought that we had known each other for some time. We talked and laughed with each other, little did I know she was the Dean. I had never met her in person (COVID). The young lady that was helping me pulled me to the side and said, "you do know that's the Dean right?" I did not know because she was so down to earth but they can be because they are humans too, right?
Since being at Mokena/Tinley campus, I have had two different advisors. They both have been awesome. My advisor I have now is so great. She's funny. I can always reach out to her and she's on it. No matter what I call her about, she is going to say, "what I hear you telling me is...", that lets me know she's listening and hearing ,and she's going to make sure it's taking care of.
I hope that anyone that may be looking to further their education and is looking for a University, that you consider Rasmussen. Is it hard, yes...but it's fair. You get out of it what you put into it, just like life. You may come across a professor that you don't always agree with, but get through your program, it's only for 5-11 weeks. The school always allows you to rate your professors. Express your feeling then. The resources are all there from the library, to the professors, advisors, and your peers....
Read moreI am deeply disappointed with my experience at Rasmussen. It has become painfully clear that this institution is more interested in making money than in providing quality education or supporting its students.
From the moment I stepped foot on the campus it was evident that the focus was on collecting tuition rather than ensuring students receive a meaningful and supportive education. The administration is unresponsive and unhelpful, and any attempts to raise concerns or seek assistance are often met with indifference or outright dismissal.
The quality of instruction is equally disheartening. Many of the professors are unprofessional and seem uninterested in their students' success. They frequently display a lack of respect towards students. Instead of fostering an environment where learning and growth are encouraged, these professors often make students feel undervalued and ignored. Lanita Wynn is the worst instructor Rasmussen could've ever hired. She tells her life story and wants everyone to know she was one of R Kelly victims. She talks about the students to other students and the other instructor to the students. She brags about the students reporting her and nothing is never done and laugh. She don't teacher she tell you to study the test banks.
What’s particularly frustrating is the lack of accountability within the institution. Despite numerous complaints from students, nothing seems to change. The school’s primary concern appears to be keeping the tuition checks coming in, rather than addressing the legitimate issues raised by those who are supposed to be at the center of the educational experience—its students.
I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Rasmussen to anyone seeking a supportive and enriching educational environment. Until the administration begins to prioritize the well-being and success of its students, this school will continue to fail those who trust it with their...
