The wonderful thing about Quad City Music Guild is that it's a completely different place every time I visit. The setting of each play transports us to a different time and place every time. This year alone, we've been taken to a plant shop on Skid Row, the heart of the ocean, and New York City's mean streets circa 1961. As an audience member, I am always drawn into the action. The actors we have are on par with the big city. Their voices are a testament to weeks and wweks of hard work practicing the songs. The pit orchestras are live, polished and provide a compelling soundtrack to the action onstage. And after the shows, you can talk to the actors! On top of that, the volunteers are as friendly and as helpful as can be. While parking is limited, the shuttle buses give good curbside service from the J.C. Penney's. Concessions are good. The popcorn is salty enough. They seldom run out of hot dogs. And a Snickers and a drink will only run you two dollars. I will not be back. I'll start off by saying I'm neuro divergent, so take the at face value. They've prioritized maximum seating vs comfortable seating to the extent that enjoying the production is near impossible. The restroom situation is so poorly designed that bottlenecks are unavoidable and finally the parking is abysmal.
The cast did a fantastic job. But the venue itself is dreadful at best.
If you don't mind being sat on top of the other audience members, then this is the...
Read moreI felt so bad for the performers that they had to wear a mask throughout. It really diminishes the experience. You couldn’t keep track of who was talking or singing. The band was louder than the performers because their voices were muffled through the mask. Let’s be honest…. It was overkill! When I go to Circa’21, we only have to wear a mask while standing. Once seated, masks come off and the performers were mask-free. Get a grip...
